Overview of the Performance Plus
The Rheem Performance Plus is a water heater available in gas and electric models. The two gas units both come in 40 and 50 gallon capacities, with an energy factor of .62. The one electric unit is available in 40 and 50 gallon capacities, with a .95 energy factor. The Performance Plus is self-cleaning, which helps prevent sediment build up and saves energy, and the gas units are maintenance-free, with no filter to clean. It uses a premium grade anode rod for long-lasting protection against corrosion, and comes with both a temperature and pressure relief valve and an enhanced flow brass drain valve. All models of the Performance Plus have a self-powered diagnostic control system with troubleshooting codes.

"Horrible just plan horrible"
Your product and customer service is a complete joke. I purchased one of your hot water heater in March. From day one we had problems. Finally after a week of no hot water and your customer service department playing games and the service company you referred playing games, we were able to get a new hot water heater. With that said, that hot water heater has been leaking since day one. I called and they sent me out a replacement part But, still it is leaking. I then called in today and spoke to a miserable supervisor named, Shakir. I called to get service along with request that my warrant that will expire in March be extended. He was rude and to the point of advising no and that he will get the service company out. For 2 hot water heaters to go in less than a 9 month period. What is that saying about your product. Also not extending the warranty even shows your own company doesn’t stand behind its own product. Unbelievable! I will never purchase anything with your name attached to anything again!

Purchased a new 50 gallon Rheem Hot Water System in April 2016. Never worked once installed after replacing both pilot light assembly and control module. I had to hire a plumber 2 times to make these "so called" warranty repairs. Cost me $240 for plumber and never reimbursed by Rheem. Had to re-install system by myself, 68 years old, since Rheem has no technical support here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area. I also suffered major injuries in re-installing the system and returning to Home Depot, which was a disaster.

Purchased on March 7 from Home Depot. Stopped working March 14. Called warranty department and no call back as of March 20. Finally found a repairman. Defective water heater. Now to get a new one and fight for my money back. Ridiculous!

"Perfect Performance from the Performance Plus Series"
This past summer my husband and I decided that it was time to update some of the older appliances in our home as our utility bill was beginning to get excessive. After a few weeks of research and visiting various warehouse stores, we decided on the Rheem Performance Plus forty gallon water heater. The warehouse store we purchased it from threw in free delivery and installation, but the short model would have been able to fit in the back seat of our SUV had we chosen to bring it home and install it ourselves. The water heater is extremely responsive, and I've noticed a definite difference when showering. Not only do I have more hot water, it seems to be a much higher temperature than before. My previous water heater got the job done, but it took so long to replenish the hot water that it was bothersome. The Rheem Performance Plus heater can replenish hot water almost as quickly as it's used. The only problem I have with it is that I would prefer having a larger tank, but with how quickly it heats water it seems to be much bigger on the inside. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

"Really pleased with this purchase"
I have owned this water heater for about six months and so far I absolutely love it. My previous water heater was 10 years old and had been used to heat the house via the furnace. I had the furnace replaced years ago but the water heater still had some life left. This new heater was a great price. It heats faster than my previous heater. I also like to take hot showers and with my previous heater I could turn the hot water all the way up and it would barely if ever be hot enough. With the new heater I can turn the hot water to half way and it is hotter than my previous water heater by far. I have never had to have it replaced. I read multiple reviews online before purchase and only read good things about it. I would recommend this to a friend and would buy this brand in the future.

"Quality and Efficient Hot Water Heater!"
We have owned the Rheem Performance Plus hot water heater for 5 months, and it works amazing. We are very satisfied with its performance, which allows us to always have nice hot showers and never have any problems sustaining hot water after a couple of showers or loads of laundry. I would highly recommend Rheem's Performance Plus model because its yearly estimated energy cost is less than $300, which will save us a lot of money.

"Pilot assembly does not work"
Had it for 2 weeks. Had a hard time lighting it the first time, but after shutting it off for an unrelated matter, it would not relight. After trying many options we called Rheem. The first person put us on hold for 10 minutes after we explained the problem. Hung up and called back. The next person said they would expedite a new assembly (offered it so quickly it must be common complaint). This was Saturday. By Monday night we had not seen anything arrive so we called Home Depot to complain. They told us Rheem offers replacement and labor. No one mentioned they could send a tech out. Instead I've had to pay someone for all this fusion around. I called Rheem again to get a tech out - 2 days! That means 5 days without hot water after getting a brand new hot water heater. When I asked why neither of the first two customer service people told us about tech help, they said, "Because you didn't ask."

"Water heater review"
I love the fact that this heater keeps us with a constant supply of warm and hot water, and we never have to worry about our water supply going cold when taking long baths or showers. The only thing I dislike about the heater is the fact that it is spacy and I have it in my bathroom which is pretty small in size. I would highly recommended this brand to a friend and I would purchase this brand again as well. We had this heater going on 5 years now and we have not had to get anything repaired on it and from the looks of it we will not have to. The product is worth the price that we paid for it indeed. If I had to buy another hot water heater in the future I would try to buy from this same brand name, no other one.

"Rheem Performance Plus water heater review"
When I purchased this water heater back in 2014 I was replacing my old water heater of 15 years. In doing so I was looking for a durable, low maintenance system that would provide enough hot water for all my household needs. When it arrived the installation instructions were very simple and assembly was straightforward and within an afternoon I had it all setup and ready to go. The water temperature that this heater puts out is perfect. I was pleasantly surprised by how much better it performed than my old model. In the 12 months that I've owned this heater I haven't experienced any issues, or had any reason to repair or perform general maintenance on it. If I had to buy another heater I would absolutely buy the same model again, or I would have absolutely no problem with recommending this same model to a friend or colleague.

"Customer service stinks!"
Bought the water heater from Home Depot and installed it the next day. Sparker was defective so I called Rheem customer service the same day. They agreed it was defective and told me they would have a service man contact me within 24 hours and have a new sparker shipped to me within 3-5 business days. No service man ever called and no part ever arrived. After 5 days of no hot water, I called the service company myself and had the part replaced and installed at my expense. Will never do business with Home Depot or Rheem again.

"Was skeptical at first, but quickly came around"
So I ended up purchasing a single one of these on a whim. I wanted a direct replacement for the Kenmore unit in my recent duplex purchase as it just wasn't working right and I knew it was time to go. So after some research, I made a quick trip over to Home depot. Mind you, i know nothing about water heaters besides the fact they make my shower hot in the morning. I ended up with this unit due to the extremely high reviews online and honestly, i couldn't be happier. The unit is crazy efficient although I did wrap it in thermal pads to help keep the heat in. My energy bills have gone down drastically and so far, i have not had any issues at all. I've had it for roughly a month now and I firmly believe that if the other unit in my home fails, I will be purchasing another one of these units. For the price and warranty it comes with, it can't be beat.

"Rheem 40 Gallon Boiler and Heater"
I am satisfied overall with my Rheem 40 gallon water heater. It performs adequately as I always have enough hot water throughout the day. It's really efficient and doesn't take much to run. I have had it 6 months and have had no issues and notice it is more reliable than the Kenmore unit it replaced. It was easy to install and very easy to adjust the temperature of the water. It takes less footprint than the last model although it's taller than the unit it replaced. There is nothing I dislike, for a water heater it just works. I think it will last well past the 6 years it is rated for. I think I would stick to this brand in the future when I need to replace it. The company seems like a good one and their support, from my experience, was helpful when I had questions about the setup.

"Great water heater"
Our water heater went out about four months ago. I really wanted a tankless water heater but after looking into the prices we decided to go ahead and get the old tank water heater. I am really glad that we did. We got the Performance Plus 40 Gal. 38,000 BTU High Efficiency Natural Gas Water Heater from Home Depot. We love it. It was easy to install, if you know what you're doing. We always have hot water now. It seems to fill up much faster than our old, way outdated gas tank water heater. We have only had it for four months now, so we have not had any problems with it or need to get it repaired, yet. But I do not think that it will be anytime soon that it will be needing any repairs. Yes I would recommend it to a friend. I also recommend buying the Rheem brand. We always go with Rheem, they are far more widely known and a brand you can trust.

"2015 Water Heater Replacement"
The previous water heater that I had was a General Electric 40 gallon gas water heater. I noticed last fall (November 2014) that there was a small leak that commonly occurs when they get old. I was not too worried because it is located in my garage but since I did notice the leak, I knew that the unit was on its last leg. I replaced it with a Rheem 50 gallon gas water heater that I purchased at Home Depot. There were two frustrating aspects to this replacement. The first is that the larger unit did not fit very well in the space and the second is that because solder no longer has lead in it, soldering can be very frustrating because it does not work as well. Once the installation was complete, I started the unit and have been very pleased with the performance of the Rheem, Because of the larger capacity, we literally have never run out of available hot water. I searched the reviews before I bought it and most users had been pleased with its performance. The other reason I like the Rheem is that it has a 10-year manufacturer warranty. All in all it has been a good experience. I would buy this product again and I would recommend it to a friend.

"Never Better Water Heater"
I have owned this water heater for 6 years now. It never gives me any problems. It heats enough water for 3-5 people, which is perfect for my family of 3. I can set the maximum temperature for water heating which is convenient because I don't have to worry that my sons will get scalded. I have not had to replace or repair it yet, and when it was sold to me I was told it had a 9 year warranty. I would recommend this brand to others, as it is cost-effective and very easy to install/use.

"Rheem Boiler, Easy to Light, Quick Hot Water"
I've had the Rheem boiler installed for about 5 months now. Once it was installed we had hot water quickly and were able to adjust the water temperature easily. The control panel has a clearly labelled knob that you simply adjust to the desired temperature. It also has clear, easy to follow instructions about lighting the pilot (which was helpful for me because I'm terrified of natural gas appliances!). You don't have to use matches or a lighter, you just press and hold the temperature knob and push the ignition switch. There's even a little window at the bottom that you can look into to confirm the pilot is lit. An indicator light on the control panel also blinks when the pilot is lit (again, very helpful!). The only reason I've chosen "Somewhat Satisfied" instead of "Very Satisfied" is the issue we have had with the pilot light going out. It's happened twice in the 5 months we've owned the unit. As I mentioned above, it's simple to re-light but it's a pain to wake up to cold water and have to wait for it to warm back up! Our old boiler was 15 years old and we never had the pilot go out. We have never needed repairs and I would buy a Rheem unit again and definitely would recommend it to friends! The ease of use is great!
