Boasting a presence in more than 100 million homes and 5 million buildings worldwide, Honeywell makes both OEM and replacement parts for virtually any piece of equipment in the HVAC industry through this massive company's Automation and Control Solutions segment. From thermostats to air cleaning, conditioning and humidification products, as well as its patented Honeywell Zoning System for housewide temperature control and tools to control water and gas parameters, Honeywell has established itself as an industry leader. Based in Morristown, New Jersey, Honeywell (NYSE:HON) employs more than 125,000 people full time, and in 2008 posted revenue of more than $36 billion.

Honeywell's History

Its furthest roots date back to 1885, when inventor Albert Butz patented the furnace regulator and alarm. Butz would later invent the damper flapper through his own company, Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Co. in Minneapolis. In 1927, Butz's company merged with engineer Mark Honeywell's plumbing and heating business, Honeywell Heating Specialty Co. Inc, which later became Minneapolis Heat Regulator Co. The merger formed Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. and, while the company would informally be known simply as Honeywell, the formal change to Honeywell Inc. didn't occur until 1963.

Product Lines

Honeywell's vast product offerings include programmable thermostats led by its VisionPRO IAQ line, as well as standard box thermostats, and even round models such as the T-86 that has been in production for more than 50 years. Air cleaners--such as its F500 line of HEPA air cleaners, humidifiers based on its TrueSTEAM Humidification System and AQUATROL series of electronic controls for hydronic heating--are just a few of the lines Honeywell offers.

Honeywell Warranty

Honeywell products carry either a five-year warranty--for items such as thermostats and electronic air cleaners--or a one-year warranty for products like carbon monoxide monitors and valves, such as for controlling water temperature or pressure. Generally, it's five years for heating and cooling products and one year for gas and water controls or monitors.
