We rent out property on VRBO.com. The old equipment was over 12 years old. Clif Miculka and Miculka Mechanical have done work for us on another property we own and we have always been pleased with their service and their knowledge and experience in the HVAC industry. Clif had come out to service the old unit several times at the beginning of a hot South Texas summer and he cautioned us that it might not make it through the hot part of the summer. We chose to be proactive and get it done before we had any unhappy renters. We got 3 bids and thankfully, his was in line or lower than the others, because we wanted to use him for the new installation if at all reasonably possible.

"I buy what I sell"
I am a York dealer and when I replaced my HVAC system that came with my new home in 2002 I replaced it with a York system. I have been a York dealer for over 5 years and all my customers have been satisfied with York. I got into the service industry in 1987 fixing appliances and HVAC, and over the years as a service tech I noticed York was not a brand I had to work on often, and when I did the equipment had some age on it. It was a good sign, and that's why I sell York. Good stuff! My new system is much quieter than the old one, and I got a high capacity system, too. The contractor who built the house put in a system that was too small and it couldn't keep up on really hot or cold days. It also only lasted 13 years and I had to fix problems with it several times over the years. Of the systems I have changed out over the past 5 years and replaced with York, I have only had a couple of problems. They were quickly resolved and everyone was happy. I can't think of any dislikes about the York products and as far as the contractor goes…I am the contractor. And yes, I would buy the same brand again and intend to keep selling York too. I'm happy and so are my customers.

"Efficient and quiet unit at a good price"
We got a 3 ton YCJD unit with matching variable speed air handler. We have been extremely satisfied with this unit. It uses much less energy then our old unit and runs very quietly. A little over a year and we haven't had the first problem. I would highly recommend the LX series unit. It was a great price and has been a great unit for us.
"Two breakdowns in first year"
York cannot seem to find a TX valve that works. The valve, made by Johnson Controls, regulates the anti-freeze flow but they had problems with sticking, which is serious because it stresses the compressor and of course gives you no heat (although you're burning through electricity because the system still runs). So my system broke down around Christmas (2014) and it took York 3 weeks to send out a new valve. It is now end of March (2015) and the same issue again. And this is a brand new unit. I could never recommend such a poor piece of equipment because, even though when it runs it is good, these repeated breakdowns are not acceptable on a brand new piece of equipment.
"York heat pump"
The York heat pump and new air handler have operated over the last year with no problems or issues. The main point is that the new system has performed as advertised and we have reduced our heating energy costs in the first year of use by approximately 35%-45%. It is one of the best investments we have made in the house. One point, we are all electric with no option for a gas system.
As per the comments made by reviewers on sites such as gardenweb.com, York is known for creating and fabricating quality equipment that is comparable and in some cases superior in efficiency and cost to most other heat pump manufacturing companies. Comparisons were drawn with a variety of brands such as Trane, Goodman, Carrier and Lennox.
