York Affinity Heat Pump Overview

Reaching up to 18 SEER, the Affinity Series is York's top-tier heat pump product line. This series consists of two units, the Affinity YZH, which offers 18 SEER/10 HSPF, and the YZF, which offers 16 SEER/9 HSPF. Units are available in 2- to 5-ton models, all of which meet Energy Star standards for efficiency.

While only the 18 SEER model has a two-stage scroll compressor, both units feature York's QuietDrive system, which combines a swept fan, composite base pan and separate compressor space to keep system noise at a minimum. Units also are equipped with a "demand defrost" coil designed to reduce the defrost cycle on the outdoor coil.

The heat pumps are finished in a powder-coated paint and have sealed electrical contractors and a rigid base pan for increased durability. Optional accessories, such as a programmable thermostat, also are available for this unit.

There are also several discontinued sub-series of heat pumps within the Affinity series, including the Affinity 8T, with an efficiency of up to 18 SEER and 9.4 HSPF; Affinity YZB, which offered an efficiency of 13 SEER and 8.6 HSPF; and Affinity YZE, with an efficiency of up to 15 SEER and 9.8 HSPF.

Just want to say how happy I am since I had my York system installed about 4 years ago.

Great product, amazing warranty! Our new York furnace and heat pump work together like 2 well oiled machines! Very quiet, and what a huge difference with our air quality. We were a little nervous at first, but the contractor (BC Coastal Energy) made us feel very comfortable with what was going to happen. They delivered on each and every promise. We would highly recommend the York brand to our friends and family!

Bought unit July 2007, 1st evap coil lasted 3 months replaced. 2nd evap coil lasted 1 year replaced. 3rd evap coil lasted 1 year replaced. The 4th evap coil lasted 4 years. Unit is now 7 years old and the evap coil is defective and needs replaced again. Unit is now out of warranty. I am told it will cost $1900 dollars to replace, with a warranty of 1 year. I paid just under $5000 dollars for unit. If you do the math a coil last 1 year and 9 months. Less then every two years, it will cost me $1900 dollars to repair.

York should replace the bad units they sold with one that they are not having problems with, if they have one, before it costs them to go under. I don't have a good thing to say about mine. It has cost me sleep on multiple nights, what's worse, my wife is pissed about it. I have had many, many different problems and I have call the technician more than a dozen times in 4 years. I can see this problem being never ending. The only good point is the people that I have had work on my unit. They have been pretty good to work with. But they can only do so much with the equipment they have to work with.

"What a piece of junk!"

We have had trouble with this heat pump since we first got it in 2009. The ac on it works just fine, but the heating portion of it has failed several times. Within a year of installation we had to have the entire computerized part of it replaced. This weekend some kind of pump inside of it blew. So it is 20 degrees outside and 50 degrees in our house (which is solely because of our gas fireplace). I would never recommend a York pump nor will I ever purchased one again. What a piece of garbage.
