The York TM9V furnace, a part of the LX series, was designed to couple efficiency with comfort. The quiet furnace uses a 2-stage burner and a constant speed blower intended to evenly distribute heat house-wide. The TM9V operates using variable speed technology, meaning the blower gradually adjusts to deliver comfort without waste. It has a 96 percent AFUŠ rating and carries the Good Housekeeping Seal.
Additional features of the TM9V include a 2-stage inducer operation, a built-in self-diagnostic display and an adjustable delay timer that allows for 2-stage operation using a single-stage thermostat. The heat exchanger is constructed from aluminized stainless steel tubing and the blower compartment is insulated for optimal performance. Its compact size of 33 inches makes it suitable for installation in homes where space is an issue. This particular unit can be installed in upflow, horizontal left or right, or downflow configuration and can be converted to use propane gas.
Not impressed with the York furnace..will never buy one again. We have had our furnace for three years. The technician has been out three times and low and behold on the third visit…they found the problem!! A defect in the furnace..it leaks!!! The pan is leaking!! Which is in turn leaking on the flame sensor (and rusting it out), and is is also leaking on the flame burner. Who knows what this is going to cost me in labor! Thanks goodness it’s not -30 degrees out. Thanks for nothing York!!

Couldn’t find my exact model number in the listings so I picked the closest one… Anyway, we had our furnace installed along with a new heat pump as a hybrid heating system about 5 years ago and couldn’t be happier with either piece. The company that put it in is awesome and really knows what they are doing. We have never had any problems with the furnace, and the only issues we have had with any part of the system were a motor (made by GE) and the thermostat (made by Honeywell). Our furnace is an advanced variable speed model that is super quiet and makes the house more comfortable than we ever thought possible based on what we had before. I tell all my friends to buy York, and I will do so again if I ever need a new ac system.

I just had a new york tm9v*mp 2 stage furnace installed last fall / winter. I read on the York website that these are supposed to be quiet. Well mine sure as hell isn’t ! I can hardly hear my tv when it’s running!! And what’s up with the cold air coming from the hot air vents? My other furnaces never did that. I was happy to read that other people are having the same problem, (means I’m not crazy or expecting too much) but, that doesn’t fix the problem. I’ve never paid so much in gas as this past winter and it’s 96% efficient. I’ve had to keep the thermostat down to 61 and it’s cold in here. If it’s a problem with the way it was installed, would an installer tell us how / why, please & thanks?
A homeowner on digitalhome.ca complains about the noise that this unit makes. According to the homeowner, the noise is due to a poor installation. Contractors on the site suggest a number of solutions for the noise problem, including maintenance to ensure the unit is draining properly, adjusting the blower speed since the dip switches may not have been set properly, as well as resetting the gas pressure.
Several homeowners on hvac-talk.com looking for information on how the TM9V compares to other units find that contractors are happy to recommend the York unit. One contractor calls it quality unit that makes for easy maintenance, while another says it provides good performance at a more reasonable cost than some other brands.
