The York TG9S furnace, part of the Latitude series, is an Energy Star-certified furnace that also carries a Good Housekeeping Seal for quality and trust. Standing at only 33 inches tall, its compact size was designed for installation in areas such as attics, closets and basements. The TG9S boasts a 95.5 percent AFUE rating. It features tubular aluminized steel heat exchanger and a constant speed blower that translates into consistent air distribution indoors. The configuration is multi-position with a PSC fan motor and single-stage burner.
The unit is shipped from the factory for installation in horizontal applications, but can be converted for downflow applications, if needed. MBH input ranges from 40 to 130. The TG9S is suitable for residential and commercial installations.
My old furnace was working but was over 30 years old, inefficient and needed replacement. I wanted a high efficiency gas furnace which would qualify for a $600 rebate offered by my utility company since I am retired and on a fixed budget. I had good success with a local contractor in the past and when I requested bids on a new heat and air system he was substantially lower than his competition. He recommended York and I went with his suggestion. It’s quiet, efficient, does the job and looks great. No regrets.

"Would not recommend this furnace"
I bought this furnace in 2013 and I have lost track of the countless times we have had to have someone come out and fix it. It wouldn’t fire up right and often times blew cold air. It would be taken care of for awhile just to have it blow cold air again. Then it started back burning and not lighting right so the entire insides were rebuilt with burners, burner box and other internal parts. The very next day it was just as bad as before. I hate this furnace and it has been nothing but a nightmare and I would not recommend this furnace to anyone.
My York TG9S is by far the best furnace I have ever owned for the price I paid for it. The unit is incredible and the price can’t be beat. This unit produces and provides a high level of comfort and heat output. It has a constant speed blower which is really efficient. It is constructed in a very sturdy manner and I have no complaints about the way it looks, feels and sounds. High quality all around. Again, the price of it too is really incredible. After finding the York TG9S furnace during my search I was really impressed. At 33 inches this furnace unit isn’t too tall and does not require a lot of space. This was great for me. I would like to recommend this brand and model to others. I went from being someone who was skeptical at first to someone who is now a very satisfied customer!
"Replaced older furnace with York"
Our older natural gas furnace had been in our house since prior to our purchase in 1987. The unit had been reliable but was old and finally called it quits in April 2014. We decided to go with a York high efficiency unit. It was installed in July 2014. Little did we know that we would experience one of the coldest winters in Vermont on record. We experienced a record number of sub zero days along with frost that reached to the deepest levels in anyone’s memory. Our entire city was asked to run a pencil width stream of water in at least one faucet. Given the record cold we used 15 CCF more of natural gas as compared to our previous low consumption that was a result of a much warmer winter. We had read the advertising literature about potential fuel savings but we actually experienced it for ourselves. The savings are real. The $$ left in our pockets is real.
"Made in USA"
I replaced my 35-year-old furnace with a York furnace because of the warranty and the quality of the unit that I purchased. Also, a very important feature to me is that it is made in the USA. As other future purchases are made by me, most likely a York A/C, I will be helping to keep jobs in America. Thank You York!
In general, reviews from around the web praise the York TG9S for its affordability, energy-efficiency and performance. A few problems are reported on consumer forums, however. Among them, one homeowner on hvac-talk.com complains about the noise produced by the unit after it was installed. As it turns out, there was a glitch during the installation and the piping wasn’t run outside as it should have been. Other contractors on the forum suggest that adjusting the pressure also may help to cut down on noise.
A consumer asks on hvacmechanic.com for advice on how to keep burners on his newly installed TG9S from going out every few seconds. Upon further inspection, he finds that condensate collection unit has a leak that could be damaging the thermocouple. Contractors on the forum encourage the homeowner to report the problem to the installing technician, rather than the manufacturer.
