York’s Affinity line consists of two gas furnaces: the Affinity YPLC, offering 80% AFUE, and the 98% AFUE Affinity YP9C. Winner of the Consumers Digest “Best Buy” award, the 98% AFUE YP9C is Energy Star rated and has a multi-position configuration.
Both the high-efficiency and base-line unit use a variable speed EMC blower motor for quiet, efficient operation and a modulating design that constantly adjusts heating levels for maximum comfort.
Additional components of the Affinity series include: reinforced cabinets, gasket doors, and York’s Climatrak Comfort System, a feature that customizes operation to the conditions of any region. With its compact 33-inch height, the Affinity series can also fit into tight spots around the home.
Along with the current YPLC and YP9C series, there are several discontinued series in the Affinity furnace line, including the Affinity 8.S, with an efficiency of 80% AFUE; Affinity 8.V, also offering an efficiency of 80% AFUE; Affinity 9V, with a 92% AFUE; and the Affinity 8.T.
Our York Affinity YP9C was installed just over a year ago and we are impressed! Not only is it efficient but it’s extremely quiet. Highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a new furnace.

"Solid furnace that lowered my monthly heating bill"
I had to buy a new furnace at the beginning of this last winter season as my old one had given up the ghost. I researched for what felt like weeks (was really only days though) before I finally settled on a brand new York Affinity furnace. As soon as it was installed I knew I had made the right choice! After all my old furnace had put me through in its lifetime, my York is like a dream come true. Within the first month my gas bill had dropped almost a hundred bucks! I chose this model because it fit into my already existing gas pipes, I didn’t have to do any modifications to get it installed. It had also won “most efficient” of Energy Star in 2014. It also has a 10 year warranty on it. Can’t really argue with that and because it’s new, I can call York to fix it if anything goes wrong with it. I haven’t had this heater for very long so if there are any negatives, I have yet to come across them. So far, I absolutely love it. Just ask my friends, they are likely tired of hearing about it. Unless something terrible happens that York refuses to do something about, I would not hesitate to buy another of these units in the future.
"Be prepared to pay more"
Unit installed in 2011 in southern California (i.e., it doesn’t get heavy use). I had the system maintained annually by professionals. Year 4 the system failed to kick on. 3 (three!) different parts had failed simultaneously. While the parts were covered under the warranty, labor to replace the parts cost 25% of the original unit price! Gasp! I called York several times to see if they’d do anything to offset such a high cost as this points to poor quality and potential for future problem, but they repeatedly declined. Buyer beware!

"Nightmare of a furnace"
This is my first time actually writing a product review but I felt compelled to warn other consumers. Purchased my York furnace in the summer of 2009. Problems started the first winter and have continued every heating season since. This morning just had the gas valve replaced. Sensors have been replaced every winter along with various “jiggling” of pipes and hoses. Yes, York offers 10 years of parts warranty but every service call costs me money. Three neighbors, including myself, installed these furnaces at the same time. Each one has been serviced multiple times, with various problems from sensors to master boards and now the gas valve. Do yourself a favor and run away from York furnaces.

"York furnace and A/C"
I had my 98% high efficiency furnace installed along with a new 14.5 SEER air conditioner on October 1, 2014. So far it is only one heating and cooling season old. It has performed as expected without any problems at all. I am amazed at how efficient both units are and how quiet they are. The only time I hear them is when it’s really cold or hot and the fan has to ramp up to satisfy my heating or cooling needs. I did some research with regards to finding a good installer and I’m sure that has made a big difference in performance. I also got a ten year warranty which will cover most parts of my equipment. Time will be the big factor as to how reliable this equipment is. For now, I’m a happy camper.

A consumer thread on hvac-talk.com carries more mixed reviews of the product. A handful of people express frustration with their Affinity furnaces. Multiple malfunctions, including odd noises and loud vibrations were among the complaints. Poor customer service with York service contractors also added to the list of issues.
Others on the thread report no problems with Affinity line and site poor contractors as the potential source of system issues.
