The York YCJD is a discontinued 13 SEER split system air conditioner available as a single phase or three phase unit. The aluminum microchannel tubing/aluminum fin coil was protected by a stamped steel coil guard and a secondary polymer mesh. A high-pressure relief valve, temperature sensor, and system high pressure switch helped protect the compressor, while a factory installed liquid line filter drier protected the compressor from moisture and debris. A rigid top panel and isolator mounted compressor helped keep operating sound levels low, and the galvanized steel cabinet had a powdercoat finish to protect against rust and corrosion. The YCJD was part of the York LX series.
My York HVAC is 4 years old. I'm replacing the coil for the 3rd time. Factory defect. The coil rubs up against panel. York will not replace my system. The part is covered under warranty but not the labor and refrigerant. Coil is on back order. I go 2 weeks every summer without ac waiting for parts. I will never purchase a York product again. I will advise my friends to avoid their products. Buy a Trane.

"Poorly made unit"

Had a York YCJD4254152A 3.5 Ton unit installed in May 2015 and now in August 2016 it has a leaking coil which has to be replaced. I had to pay the service call and will have to pay for labor to have it installed as the 12-month labor warranty has expired. What is wrong with this picture? A 10-year limited parts warranty does little good when the product is faulty so soon after installation and is now discontinued. York needs to reimburse me for my time, trouble and expense to get their unit repaired. Will not buy this brand ever again or recommend it.

The unit is adequate for cooling my area and very efficient on my electric bill. However my unit was installed in March of 2014. And already because of a slow leak in the coil located in the attic that coil needs to be replaced. The part itself is warrantied but I have had to pay for the labor and the cost to replace the Freon! I am now very concerned about the long-term performance of this unit. In reading the customer reviews other owners have experienced this problem and I see the manufacturer has discontinued this model. I would not purchase this brand again.

System was installed a couple of years ago (9/25/2013) to replace an older Payne 5 Ton unit that was having compressor issues and was expensive to run. The installer – Matt O. with Air Service Partners – did great work. He was able to use the existing line set that was buried in concrete, however he replaced the inside evaporator coil due to the fact that we were migrating from R-22 to R-410A. He was also able to use my existing Amana furnace which saved a bundle. We also replaced all of the air grills, and he also re-did the air plenum attaching the top of the furnace which he found constricted. This immensely increased airflow. I also purchased an air conditioning cover from Brinmar to keep the condenser clean during the winter when the unit is not in use. The unit has performed very well during this recent heat wave in Southern California where the temperatures were 109 degrees today. I measured the air exit temperature and it was in excess of 130 degrees, so it was definitely being worked!

I have never had any problems with it, I absolutely love our AC! It always keeps the house nice and cold and our energy bill is always reasonable.
Among the very few online reviews of the YCJD on HVAC forums is a question on gardenweb.com asking for opinions of the unit, along with similar units by York and Goodman. One reviewer recommended Luxaire and two others recommended Trane, with one saying he had a bad experience with York.
