"Most of the Problem with All A/C are the Installing Contractor"
Most problems with a/c systems are caused be the installing contractor. Repeated Compressor failures, not able to keep up with "Florida Heat" are caused by the installing contractor. They are taking a short cut or undersized the unit to keep the cost down. In order to be "the low bid", they are cutting corners that will cause nothing but headaches for the homeowner. Low bid will always be the high bid; in the long run, quality costs money, but it will save you in the long run. Before selecting a manufacturer, check out the contractor you are using. Once you find a good contractor ask for his advice, he does this every day. Most all a/c unit today all use the same compressor and basic parts. The big difference for the homeowner is the person installing your systems, not the manufacturer. I have been doing this for 30 years and most of the problems I have seen are poor installation.

Extremely disappointed in this unit, however I should have told the HVAC guy to take it back when I read the reviews because all the negative reviews are right on point. The unit is loud when it runs. Less than a year old and the compressor has gone out. Don't believe anything positive about this unit. I will never buy York or use any contractor that sells them. My best guess is any positive reviews on here are probably HVAC contractors looking to markup a cheap unit. Never buy a York.
I am very happy with my new AC unit. It runs quieter than the unit it replaces, and there is a lot more movement of air. I am pleased to have a unit that will be more cost-efficient. I also like the fact that the unit is surrounded by a sturdy metal frame that protects it from dings caused by lawn care equipment or snow and icicles falling from the roof.
It's an excellent unit. Service was exceptional.

I was initially somewhat concerned with the reviews I had seen online. However, my contractor, who came highly recommended by friends and family, assured me the quality of installation is the driving factor in whether your system goes 30 years without issue, or is riddled with repairs from the start. I checked in throughout the installation and he explained to me the processes involved and now six months later my system is as quiet and working as well now as it did day one. I'm very pleased with the York brand and would highly recommend them.
In a comparison on gardenweb.com between the York LX and a similar Carrier model, a contributor stated that the LX is a good, quiet unit, and recommended the 14.5 SEER unit over the 13 SEER. Another thread on gardenweb.com found a couple of consumers calling the LX a good, reliable unit.
