"Rather boil water for a bath than buy a whirlpool."
I bought heater that ruptured they replaced that and then new one burnt up they replaced that and new one that was professionally installed burnt up again?? Called and they said it was out of warranty because they go off first hot water heater. I said it is brand new and one year old?? Guy says not our problem??? Probably the worst company ever. If it was repaired or a refurbished replacement I can see but 3 brand new heater within 6 years?? And 2 burnt up within 2 years??? 50 gallon electric run by #10 wire and protected by 30 amp breaker. They say they will not replace it. Never buy whirlpool. A total waste.!!!!!!
"Good water heater, decent price"
I've had a natural gas-powered Whirlpool water heater for about the last six months, and I'm quite satisfied with it. My current unit replaced an aging electric model which was making my electric bills high, due to its poor efficiency. So far, my bills (all told, including gas and electric) are about $10 cheaper every month – which I attribute to having replaced a lot of inefficient appliances this year. Installation was provided free of charge – so no hassles there. No problems whatsoever thus far, I'm pleased to report. The price wasn't particularly amazing, but I certainly could have spent more (mine was $449 brand new, but "no name," competing models were being offered at $300+). Overall, it was a worthy purchase that I'd probably make again (although I doubt I'll have to).
We had this water heater for a year and we have been having problems. We do the regular maintenance and have done so twice. When things began to break down I had a hard time finding parts. Lowe's doesn't carry them so you have to order them. No heating company deals with them so they can't help. You have to pay big money for the "recommended" service people to come and fix. For the labor alone you can buy another water heater. I can only imagine the years to come in the future, however I'm not going to wait until I have no hot water. Whirlpool is terrible. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again. I'm going to stop using my Lowe's card for buying appliances. Two words: Home Depot.
"Whirpool Hot Water Heater"
This is a Whirpool 6th sense 50 gallon tall gas water heater. We are limited in which water heaters we can get because we have gas. This one is top of the line. It is very easy to install but make sure you buy the kit that goes with it for installation. It will definitely make your life easier. It has multiple temperature settings and it also has a vacation setting which is a big money saver! Who would want to be able to save money while on vacation! Good value for the money. It also has a very fast recovery. Meaning that when you use a lot of water and you are waiting for it to refill and reheat it doesn't take much time at all! I would definitely recommend this Whirlpool 6th Sense 50 Gallon water heater in a heart beat!
"Water Heater – Energy Efficient"
I am very satisfied with my Whirlpool water heater. I have this water heater running now for four years, it has been very reliable. Always hot water when need it. The heater is power by natural gas and contrary to some belief it is very fuel efficient and silent. The gas bill for the Heater never exceeds a small $15 a month. Also, in particular I like the auto-ignition mechanism, the pilot and the light indicator that gives function/trouble codes. It is very easy to operate and to hook up. Once it is running, you don't need to touch it anymore. It works like a charm. Obviously, it is a good idea to do a yearly maintenance or to get a professional to check it for you on a yearly basis. I would definitely recommend Whirlpool gas heater to a friend because of its unique features, its price and its reliability.
Online reviews of the 6th Sense water heaters are not generally positive. Reviewers at diychatroom.com discuss a problem with the electronic ignition. Comments on thetankatwaterheaterrescue.com also mention a problem with the ignition not working properly. The longer warranty that Whirlpool offers is discussed, with most reviewers favoring other brands with shorter warranties.
The 6th Sense electric water heater is covered by either a 9-year or 12-year tank and parts warranty, depending on the model. The Hybrid Heat Pump water heater has a 10-year tank and parts warranty. Gas model tank and parts warranties vary in length from 6, 9 and 12 years, depending on the model.
