Corporate History
The Viessmann company was founded in Germany in 1917, manufacturing steel boilers, and has been family-owned for several generations. Viessmann opened their first foreign factory in 1972 in France, followd by one in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1978. Later, the North American headquarters moved to Warwick, RI. They introduced their first condensing boiler in 1992. In recent years the company has won several German awards, including “Excellent Product Design – Building and Energy”.
Product Lines
Viessmann produces two brands of oil-fired boilers: the Vitorond 100 and the Vitola 200. Both boilers are Energy Star qualified and offer a biferral heat exchanger, low-emission combustion burner, and fluctuating water temperatures that provide an even distribution of heat.
There are a total of six models of condensing gas boilers – four wall-mounted and three floor standing. The wall-mounted units all feature a modulating stainless steel cylinder burner, and one model, the Vitodens 100-W, features an optional kit to convert it to a combi boiler. All of Viessmann’s gas boilers are Energy Star qualified.
Veissmann also has a line of solar systems designed for domestic hot water and supplementary space heating.
Warranty
Viessmann’s condensing gas boilers are covered by a limited lifetime warranty on the pressure vessel, pro-rated after the 10th year, and a 2-year parts warranty. The warranty on oil-fired boilers is 20 years on the cast iron sections, pro-rated after the 10th year, and 2 years on parts.
Solar systems are covered by a 10-year warranty on the panel or vacuum tube solar collector and a 2-year parts warranty.
