Corporate History

Vaillant was founded in 1874 by Johann Vaillant, and today has sales and distribution companies across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Vaillant continues to follow its original mission which it describes as “Constantly looking out for solutions which will improve the domestic comfort of their customers.”

Vaillant patented the “closed system” in 1894 which meant that for the first time, water was heated in a hygienic manner. In 1924, Vaillant developed a central heating boiler and in 1967 developed the first combi boiler, the Combi-Geyser VCW 20. In recent years, several of the company’s products have received the Which? Best Buy award, which recognizes the very best businesses in the UK.

Product Lines

Vaillant describes itself as leading the way in renewable heating technologies and creating products which use sustainable sources of energy. These products include the Vaillant geoTHERM heat pump, designed to heat a single-occupancy house by extracting energy using a geothermal probe or ground collector. It supplies heat in the winter, passive cooling during summer and hot water year-round.

Vaillant’s line of solar products includes the auroTHERM Exclusive, which works by connecting vacuum tube collectors on the roof with an indoor pump system, hot water tank and system boiler. This technology can deliver 60% of a home’s domestic hot water needs, according to the manufacturer.

Vaillant also produces a line of combi boilers, including the ecoTEC Exclusive, which offers quiet operation and features an electronically controlled low energy pump that lowers energy consumption.

Warranty

Vaillant offers a five-year parts and labor warranty on the ecoTEC Exclusive and ecoTEC plus, and a two-year parts and labor warranty on the ecoTEC Pro. Other products are covered by a two-year parts, one-year labor warranty.
