Utica USC Boiler Overview
Utica USC boilers are discontinued units with an 87-percent AFUE rating. They are available in three sizes ranging from 50,000 to 140,000 BTU/H, and in natural gas- or propane-fired options. At the time of its manufacture, the unit’s ratio of cast iron to BTU heating capacity was one of the highest in the industry.
Installation of the Utica USC boiler is designed for flexibility in any home. Equipped with a stainless steel vent pipe, these units can vent vertically or through a side wall. This product also is designed for extra convenience when switching from electric heat to a hot water system, the manufacturer says.
Clean burning is optimized by the sealed combustion system, which uses outside air rather than indoor air for better heat conservation. Such a combustion system also provides protection from exposure to carbon monoxide.
The USC boiler is manufactured with a cast iron heat exchanger and stainless steel burners. The advantage of stainless steel burners is the flame pattern is uniform providing more efficiency and noise control. The unit also comes with Honeywell ignition components.
