The Trane XL20i is discontinued and has a rating of up to 19.00 SEER and 9.0 HSPF. The XL20i features two-stage cooling and heating and has a multi-speed motor that changes speeds to maximize comfort. The WeatherGuard top protects components, and the DuraTuff base pan is rust-proof. The XL20 has a sound insulator on the compressors to provide quiet performance. When matched with a Trane variable-speed indoor unit, the XL20i gives greater humidity control when cooling and provides warmer air during heating start up. By running the fan at a slower speed during start up, temperature variances are reduced, providing optimum home comfort.
We replaced our old heat pump that we had for 25 years with no problem with this new one. Bought 9/1/09 and I have had to have the service man come out 5 times mostly the same problem to replace the AHV board. A week later, I get air after having 90-degree weather. Would not buy this again.
"XL20i does the job!"
Early on in the installation. Second month of unit in operation (Feb) and electric bill is $100 less than last year's bill. The average temp is 10 degrees colder than last year as well. Pleasant surprise. I will try to remember to update in six months and a year.
"XL20i Pumps Up the Jam!"
I've had my XL20i for about 4 years now. I like this brand because it gets the job done. I've never had a problem. The XL20i keeps me toasty in the winter and other than that I never really notice it. I don't think about it except when it kicks in on cold nights and I feel a — literal — warm sensation of gratitude from head to toe. There's nothing like coming in from a chilly, wet night and snuggling up in a warm house. I feel fine leaving the house to go out for the day or off for the weekend knowing that my cats will be safe with the heat on. I would definitely buy this brand again. Installation went fine. The guy came, brought the heat pump, set it up and left. No worries. My bills aren't outrageous either. I've read that it has a pretty good energy saving rating too.
"Review of our Trane XL20i heat pump"
The Trane XL20i is the heat pump that was installed into my home about a year ago and I am very satisfied with the results it is giving us. We had this heating pump installed into out home because my uncle works for this particular company but the results would be the same for anyone who would like to install this heating pump in their home. The heating pump has not given us any problems since we have installed it and we hope to keep it that way, they are very durable and a reliable company, so if something were to happen with the heating pump they would be there to help us repair the heating pump. I would recommend the Trane XL20i to all my family and friends because it is effective and we have not had any trouble with the heating pump as of yet. With proper up keep of the heating pump we hope to get a long life out of the heating pump.
"CONSIDERING TRANE TOP-OF-THE-LINE"
Wow…i thought Trane was it! All the bad reviews on the new units just creep me out. We have three Ruud a/c units which are 23 years old. They run fine. Air handlers are rusted out and leaking…Considering 3 THREE new XL20i's to replace existing. All the negative comments about new equipment have me wondering about just keeping the old units and getting a fix on the condensation leaks…. Someone please help me understand why the newer units seem to suck?
Based on comments from online HVAC forums, both consumers and professionals regard the XL20i as a good unit. A consumer on hvac-talk.com complained about the XL20i's ability to control humidity levels. Most other comments, from both homeowners and professionals, disagreed with the consumer and praised the XL20i.
