The Trane XB14 is a discontinued single-stage heat pump with a cooling efficiency of up to 15.5 SEER and a heating efficiency of up to 8.5 HSPF. The unit features a Climatuff compressor and a Spine Fin aluminum coil which provides low airflow resistance and higher efficiency. Galvanized steel louvered panels with a baked-on powder paint finish and corrosion resistant fasteners help keep the XB14 safe from rust and corrosion, and the DuraTuff basepan is impervious to corrosion, cracking, or warping. The XB14 is potentially Energy Star qualified when installed as part of a qualifying Trane system.
I bought a Trane heat pump in 2012 and it has had to have a major service every six months for the past two years. I've spent thousands of dollars in repairs on this very low-quality product. Do not purchase any Trane products.

Bought a brand new house in 2004 every since we move in I have had health issues with year around allergies, well I had a allergy test ran and it came back I was allergic to different types of mold, come to find out the mold is in the Trane heat pump there is no way to get rid of the mold you have to buy a whole new unit, I was also told not to buy any type of unit that is made by Trane. Just want to give a heads up to Trane owners if you are having trouble with allergies or always sick with flu like symptoms you might want to get your Trane unit checked

I have only had my heat pump since the previous one broke in early 2014. That's almost two years. The previous pump was constantly being repaired, and the repairman finally told me he thought I should scrap the old one and get a brand new one. He told me that the number one ranked heat pump on the market is the Trane XB14. I looked it up on the internet to confirm and it checked out with good ratings. I literally have not had one problem with my new heat pump. It is quiet (I'm not sure if the other one was loud because it was broken or if they are supposed to be silent), it doesn't take up any more space than the old one, and it came with a really good 10 year warranty. My utility bill has gone down quite a bit, as well. I am very happy with my heat pump.

Last winter was one of the coldest I've ever experienced in Tennessee. Ice storms, fallen trees, and frigid temperatures contributed to my old heat pump finally giving out. When I replaced it I went with a Trane model because I had heard such good things. I've had it for a little over a year now, and I have to say, it works like a dream. For one, it is so quiet! I love that my electric bill is lower too, I think because it works so efficiently. When I come home from work and turn up the air, I can feel the difference in temperature almost immediately. Humidity-wise, this model is great, too. I can really tell a difference from my older heat pump. I would definitely recommend this brand to anyone looking to upgrade, especially if you live in a southern state and want to be cool during these harsh summers.

Trouble from the beginning. Before it was even 2 years old, it had a bad motor, a leaking motor, a bad electric switch, and bad installation from All Weather Heating and a/c to boot! If I had the money I would have it taken out and a real unit put in. It's already cost me an additional $1000 in less than 4 years for labor and that's with the parts under warranty.
The XB14 is available in different models which vary in efficiency and capacity.
