Trane WPHF Heat Pump Reviews

"XL14i = problems"

We average hundreds of dollars per year to keep our unit running. Have had several freon leaks. The lineset has been replaced. Freon has been charged several times in the short 5 years we've had the unit in our "new" house. It was installed in our brand new house and has been nothing but problems every year. Few repairs were covered under the extended warranty. (Freon and linesets are not covered under warranty) Contacted Trane home office and local distributor but they all claimed that the problem was not due to factory issues. Even after paying about $750 for new lineset the freon still leaks out of unit. We are just going to charge it each year or so for about $200 till it crookes. We will never buy Trane again and have suggested to all of our friends that they stay away from Trane.

"Noisy, inefficient and unreliable"

After less than 3 years, I hired a Carrier HVAC contractor to remove the TRANE. Obviously, he did so very willingly. I think he was tired of working on it, frankly!!! (After the warranty had expired, I called in a different contractor to maintain the unit, HOPING he could solve my problems) Higher utility bills and unreliable performance were my major problems with the Trane unit. I had to cancel my son's birthday party because the A/C broke on an August afternoon (the unit was less than 5 months old!!!!). Twice, the compressor leaked PURON. After the warranty had expired, I decided to bite the dust and change out the unit. I am very pleased with my new Carrier unit.
