The Trane XV80 is Trane’s top-of-the-line 80% AFUE furnace. It is a two-stage furnace with a variable speed blower. It can be configured to burn natural gas or heating oil. It features on-board diagnostics which can help your heating contractor resolve problems more quickly. The Trane XV80 can be configured with an optional air cleaner. The design of the Trane XV80 Furnace is CSA certified.
We purchased an expensive Trane Natural Gas heater in March 2006. In less than 6 years, the circuit board has gone out 3 times. We asked the dealer to look at it to see if the cause for this recurring failure could be identified. Their only response was to offer to repair it for over $500. We have had it replaced with a less expensive heater that we think will provide better reliability. We also think the new company will provide better service.

Very Unsatisfied
I have had numerous ignitors, circuit boards, and thermocouplers replaced on my xv80 over the seven years I’ve had it. Love it when it works, but budget $400-500 a year to repair it. I highly recommend another product.

Question and Answer
Question:
Should I be concerned about the blinking red light that shows on the front panel of the Trane XV80?
Answer:
The diagnostics for the Trane XV80 can be determined by the red, green and amber flashing LED lights. Depending on the number of flashes the red light is giving off depends on what needs attention. See page 24 of the installation manual for the specific issue to the number of flashes you are noticing.
Question:
Red light blinks 7 times on furnace. What does that mean?
Answer:
This is an error code for a gas valve circuit problem. On the inside front panel of your furnace, there should be a list of error codes and their meanings for your unit.
With the gas valve circuit code, there is most likely a problem on the circuit board. This should be addressed by an HVAC professional.
