The Trane XB13 is a single-stage air conditioner with an efficiency of up to 14.50 SEER. It features a Climatuff compressor and an all-aluminum Spine Fin outdoor coil designed to provide higher efficiency and resistance to corrosion. The unit’s zinc-coated fasteners are resistant to corrosion, and the DuraTuff base pan is manufactured to resist rust, corrosion, warping or cracking. Full-sided louvered panels with a baked-on powder paint finish provide protection from the elements while resisting corrosion.
I purchased this unit last year, August 2014, and after a year it stopped working properly. My old unit lasted for 18 years and had no problem. I decided to replace it with a Trane AC because I thought I could save money with new equipment, but I was wrong. Now I know not to purchase any Trane product at all.

A year and a half after having a new unit installed, I find out there is a leak in the reversing valve. It will cost $700-$1,000 to fix and of course no one is accepting responsibility and stating there is no warranty coverage. I will never purchase a Trane again if they can't back up their product.

I am very dissatisfied with your product. After spending over $7000 on your 4 ton XB90 and XB13 I now have a leaking coil that has to be replaced. This unit is less than 2 years old and is costing me another $1000 to $1200 for the labor to replace the coil. I will never buy another one of your Trane products. They are not worth the price and are unreliable. I wish I had gone with my original brand (which was not a Trane) instead of the Trane when I purchased a new unit. At least my previous brand was reliable for 10 years with no repairs needed, which is superior compared to your Trane reliability! I intend to write as many reviews as possible to let others know that your products are unreliable, even when practically brand new, and very costly to repair as Trane does not cover the labor to repair their failures. We're going on 2 years with our Trane Split-system ac -ac only, no heat. I did hours and hours of research prior to going with Trane. My installer actually only sells and installs Trane systems now because of issues in the past with Goodman, Carrier, etc. Granted, not every unit from the factory is perfect, I realize this but when my installer started getting multiple call backs from Customers after installing other brands, he'd have to fight with the ac vendor to get parts. This all changed when he went to Trane. Granted, he had some minor issues here and there but they are significantly less with Trane. Do yourself a favor and check the installer ratings/references and when you get quoted, go with Variable speed motor. We got a Trane xb13 (Because the energy savings from the xb13 to xb14 wasn't substantial enough) and the Hyperion xl tam7 handler. We couldn't be happier with our Trane system.

In the last year have had 5 calls on unit. Just had to replace the coil. Very expensive repair. I don't abuse the unit as it is in a small condo. I will never buy this Trane 2TTB3060A1 again. Nothing but a money pit.

Other XB13 Reviews
There are several posts on hvac-talk.com and doityourself.com from consumers asking for comparisons between the XB13 and similar Trane models. Most comments say that the XB13 is a low-level unit that will get the job done, but a few also note that it is louder than other models due to the lack of a sound blanket.
