Trane Air Conditioner Overview
For more than a century Trane has built its reputation through hard work and innovation. Trane provides a diverse selection of heating and cooling components, units and systems. They supply air conditioners, air handlers, furnaces, heat pumps, coils, packaged systems, ductless systems, and thermostats. Trane has been awarded the 2016 Lifestory Research Award for Most Trust, the SOAR award from American Mechanical and the bronze medal in the U.S. Dealer Design Awards. Trane’s line of AC products includes its TruComfort, XL- and XR-series units.

Air conditioners cool the air inside your home by removing its heat. The heat is removed as the air is drawn across pipes filled with coolant. The heat from the air is blown outside while the cooled air is then blown back into the space. There are several different types of air conditioners:
- Central
- Ductless
- Portable
- In-window
- Hybrid
- Heat pumps
- Geothermal heating and cooling

Care and Maintenance
Trane air conditioners are designed for efficiency and comfort and, when cared for consistently, can last for years and even decades. Regular servicing can help reveal issues before they grow into problems. Maintenance prevents rust, leaks, and the effects of wear and tear. Trane advises owners to schedule a service appointment with a professional in the late winter in order to prepare for the upcoming cooling season. Â
During the spring, exterior maintenance includes cleaning around the unit and removing any dirt and debris from the main cabinet. An inspection of the coil and cabinet should be performed to locate any holes or leaks. Fan blades should also be examined while in motion and stationary in order to determine the effects of wear and tear.
For interior maintenance, all filters should be cleaned and where necessary, replaced. The ductwork may have develop leaks and should be examined. While the unit is starting up, check for any abnormal or unusual odors and listen for any noises that are out of the ordinary. Lastly, inspect the control box wiring and connections. With consistent care, a Trane AC can last between 15 to 20 years, or even longer.
