Tempstar N8MS Furnace Overview

The Tempstar N8MS is a single-stage gas furnace with an efficiency rating of 80% AFUE. The N8MS is available as the N8MSN (Standard) and N8MSL (Low NOx). It is designed for multi-position installation — upflow, downflow, and horizontal left/right — and its 33 1/3″ height allows greater installation flexibility. It features an RPG (Rigid Press Joint) aluminized steel primary heat exchanger for efficient heat transfer. A fixed-speed blower motor and single-stage gas valve help provide even, comfortable temperatures. It has a one-piece prepainted steel cabinet and is factory shipped for natural gas, with kits available for propane conversion.

Tempstar N8MS Furnace Reviews

"Furnace needs replacing in 5 years"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

The customer is always wrong at TEmpstar / ICP ( International Comfort Products) In 2012 I had a Tempstar 60,000 btu furnace installed by an “authorized dealer”. Five years later I am told after three service calls ($ 450.00) plus $3500.00 original installation. That I need a new furnace because the failed heat exchangers ( under warranty ) were a waste of my money & should replace entire furnace. Three call later ICP informs me I cannot have any possible credit unless I first order a new Tempstar furnace. After that I could ask for some credit toward new furnace. Stupidly I put the new one in & ICP tells me I am entitled to nothing. Another $2000.00 Even though they do not need to replace the heat exchangers under warranty . I retired in January, after 40 years in customers service. I was appalled by their position & decision to offer nothing, even if only their cost for the heat exchanger that I would not need now. You be the judge, would you by a Tempstar furnace???

"20 years and still working"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

All the reviews you read mean nothing. They all look the same, you hate it or you love it. I have a 20 year old Tempstar that works fine with only minor repairs over its life.

"You’re all insane"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

First of all, Heil and Tempstar are the same exact product, made in the same factory. They are both part of International Comfort Products – look it up. Second, 99% of product failures are due to improper install, so before you complain about the product you should make sure you are not getting the run around from your contractor (which you are). Lastly, to the review about the n8ms model furnace, the furnace does not cool. The evaporator coil, which is a completely separate piece of equipment, does the cooling in conjunction with the condenser outside. So the leak was not in the furnace, it was in the coil. Everyone who is complaining about the brand of equipment should only be complaining about how bad they got ripped off by the horrible contractor that they hired that botched the install.

"The Worst Unit-Air and Heat- EVER"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Here are the numbers on the Model..N8MSN0701412A Serial a104519709. This unit has been nothing but trouble since 2 months after installation. The air was not cooling. Finally they said there was a leak in a valve. Cost me $169 to have 4 pounds freon plus service call. Still not doing the job my 17 year old Heil, which was still in good working order however my son thought it best to replace the unit due to it’s age. I now have a lemon tempstar. The heater just had 2 parts replaced which cost another $169. The heater works when it feels like it, it takes 3 or 4 efforts before the heater actually puts out heat. I rue the day I ever had this unit installed. Give me back my heil any day over this pile of junk.
