Furnaces generate heat through the combustion of a variety of fuel sources, including oil, gas, and wood. The heat is generated inside of a combustion chamber. As air passes by the outside of the chamber, it absorbs the heat generated by the combustion before being blown through a duct system that supplies heat to the home.

Care and Maintenance

Tempstar furnaces can last for many years when properly maintained. Some of the most important maintenance measures are also the simplest. For instance, you should replace the filters every one to three months. When the filter gets clogged, the other components of the system experience stress.

You should also inspect the ductwork both near the unit and farther away. Leaks in the ductwork can result in an inefficient system because heat is wasted through the holes. When inspecting the ductwork, pay particular attention to the joints and corners, making sure they are properly sealed. If anything is loose, missing, or worn, it should be resealed to maintain the efficiency of the system.

Make sure to schedule regular unit service before each cold season to identify any issues that could cause the unit to malfunction when you need it most. Service should always be performed by a professional technician. In addition to finding and addressing issues, a technician can give you tips specific to your furnace to help you get the most out of it.

Tempstar Warranties

Tempstar offers a 10-year limited parts warranty and a 20-year heat exchanger warranty. If the unit is not registered within 90 days, the limited warranty period drops to five years, but the heat exchanger warranty remains at 20 years. To take advantage of the warranties, you must live in the residence where the unit is located.
