They are headquartered in Irvine, California, with regional offices in Tennessee and New Jersey, and a global office in Canada. A.O. Smith acquired all of Takagi USA’s assets in 2010. A.O. Corporate History
The Japanese company was founded in 1952 and entered the American market with the opening of its Tustin, California operations in 1995. Some of the “firsts” claimed by the company include: bringing tankless-only products to the North American market; offering a tankless product with an efficiency rating of up to 95%; and offering direct-vent convertible tankless model of water heater. The company entered into a joint venture with A.O. Smith in 2010 in which A.O. Smith acquired all of Takagi USA’s assets and assumed responsibility for the Takagi brand.
Product Lines
Takagi tankless units provide between 200 and 500 gallons of hot water per hour, depending on the model, and 34 models are Energy Star rated. Ten units are capable of a maximum flow rate of 10 gallons per minute, and four models feature a maximum flow rate of 14.5 gallons per minute. The Tagagi line includes both indoor and outdoor units which can run on natural gas or propane.
Warranty
Takagi provides a 15-year heat exchanger 5-year parts warranty on residential models. On commercial models they provide a 10-year heat exchanger and 5-year parts warranty.
