"Ideal for residential use. Quiet and doesn't require frequent maintenance. Customer service is helpful when needed."
– I have owned this Sentry boiler for 4 years, I bought it because it was supposed to have a longer life and Sentry is a trusted brand in this industry with a variety of products and services. – The unit is quiet and dependable, helps my energy bill by being a heavy duty, high effieciency model, and appears to be working properly. – The unit is Large, which is unfortunate in an apartment that it takes up a lot of space. – The unit has needed maintenance since it's original installation, but not a great deal of needed repairs over time. – When routine maintenance was needed, the Sentry customer service phone line and follow up was very helpful. – The unit was purchased at Home Depot and for the added charge came with a Home Depot warranty. – I would recommend this company and model number to a friend.
"Yet to Have a Problem With my Sentry Boiler"
This is the boiler I ordered as part of moving into my new home. I've only been at the new house for 3 months so I don't have an idea of how well this particular boiler is in the long-term. As of right now I am happy with it. One of the reasons I purchased it is because it runs on natural gas and this house actually has a natural gas tank buried underground outside. That is new for me as the last home did not have that. Anyway, I have never had a problem with the boiler heating water so far. It is quiet, and I have not run out of hot water ever. It's actually somewhat concealable compared to the water heater in my old house. This one is tucked in a corner behind a small wall. The last one almost needed its own room. I also don't use water like a madman but I have a family of 4. So a lot of hot water gets used. For the cost of the machine, I am extremely happy because it has not had any issues but it was a lot less expensive than many others that I saw when looking to purchase a boiler. So far I would say I am satisfied with the boiler but until it has been running for a year or so with no problems I cannot yet give an entirely full review. As of right now I am very happy with it. There have yet to be any repair needs, I have not seen any temperature extremes which is something I have seen in other hot water systems before. Also, it isn't going through gas as bad as I thought it may, so it seems to be pretty energy efficient.
Based on comments from online HVAC forums, the Sentry is regarded as a good unit. Consumers on terrylove.com and doityourself.com had problems with their Sentry boilers not heating correctly that were both determined to be caused by a circulator and not the unit itself.
