The Slant/Fin Lynx is a modulating condensing gas combi boiler with an efficiency of up to 93% AFUE. It is a compact, lightweight unit designed for floor-standing or wall-mount installation and can be used with natural or LP gas. The unit features a spark ignition system and a corrosion-resistant cast aluminum silicon alloy heat exchanger, along with a brazed plate stainless steel heat exchanger for domestic hot water. All connections are located at the top of the boiler, and a digital electronic control with outdoor reset helps monitor the system.
I'm not a plumber nor boiler person by profession, simply a dyi guy. I've had this lX-120 for 6 or so years, a very minor hiccups but nothing more serious that a manual reset. This past weekend no hot water, makes for a cold shower, bummer. Error/Alarm Code 33 (fan speed error), yep fan was not spinning. After sparing at it a few minutes it appeared that only two components could cause this code to be generated. The fan or the control board. I was reluctant to try the repair myself so I called a few (8 or 9) local plumbers/HVAC places. I became somewhat skeptical when none of them bothered to ask make or model or nature of the problem. They simply said call out fee is $x and the truck carries a complete inventory. If they don''t know what it is how do they expect to have the right parts? Anyway I ordered both parts and resolved the problem by replacing the fan. Easy fix .. two screws and four nuts. When I removed the defective fan, water came out of it!! Upon inspection I could tell that water had be in the area for a prolonged period causing a short circuit on the control board. Where did this water come from?

"Slant Fin Lynx LX-120"
I am not a handy man and don't do a lot of projects around the home but I do sometimes and thought I could install this boiler by myself. I did all my research on the boiler and decided this was the one for me that meets my needs and price range. Then I did all my research on installing this boiler and felt comfortable to do it myself. This is the first boiler I installed myself and the instructions were very clear, making installing it a breeze. It did take me a couple hours to do with the right tools but the money I save was worth it. I would recommend having a friend help you carried the boiler since it is awkward and a bit heavy. I did used a cart to help me move it but those stairs were really difficult to do. The water gets hot really quick compared to my old one. Sometimes the water temperature varies in range but normally within the acceptable range. The price was a little steep but you get what you pay for and I feel this will last me a long time.

"Stuck on domestic water with the pump running."
I had a Slant Fin Lynx Combi installed in December, 2012. About a year later, it got stuck on domestic water mode and the pump wouldn't shut off. The company that installed it has tried to fix it repeatedly ' they reset it, replaced the board, replaced the flow valve, reset it again, and other things. But after they 'fix' it, in a day or two it gets stuck in domestic water mode with the pump running continuously again. Has anyone heard about others who have had these problems? Is it fixable? They have been out to fix it about 5 times, without success. Update on 2014-11-26: As the weather has become colder, the Lynx 150 Combi Boiler, which is less than 2 years old, has not been able to keep the house warm. When it is in the upper 30's outside, the boiler can only heat the house to about 60 degrees. In addition, the hot water temperature ranges from very cold to scalding and back multiple times over the course of a shower. The domestic water temperature reading on the boiler ranges from 110 to 168. It is set at 125. The installer has been kept waiting weeks for a part.
