The Slant/Fin GXHA is a high performance gas-fired steam boiler with an efficiency rating of up to 81.3% AFUE. The unit features a built-in integral draft diverter which reduces clearance requirements to just 18″ above the boiler, making the GXHA perfect for tight installations with overhead obstructions. It has an intermittent pilot ignition and an optional tankless heater, and a control with LED lights to monitor system operation. The GXHA also has a built-in speed skimmer trough which discharges dirt and contaminants through a drain faucet and greatly reduces boiler cleaning time.
I have owned this boiler for as long as I've been in my current house, which is approximately 14 years. I like that I have not had any major issues with it, and for the most part it has performed well throughout a variety of weather conditions. The only issue I had turned out to be a small repair that was necessary due to an unrelated water leak in my basement. This repair took approximately two days and was not a major inconvenience. I contacted the company when I realized that there was an issue, and their customer service staff were professional and quick to respond to my needs. I am glad this was the case, as I was told that this type of boiler is quite expensive if one had to buy it on their own. The warranty on it is for 25 years, which seems like a reasonable length for a good quality product. I don't know a great deal about home repair but from the people I've talked to, it seems that this boiler would be a good choice. If someone was purchasing a home, I would recommend this boiler from Slant/Fin because it seems like a high-quality device.
"Sounds like water is sizzling"
I have this Slant-Fin GXHA160 boiler for about 7 months. I am hearing drops of water sizzling when the boiler is working. I complain that this is an issue. I was told this is moisture. I don't believe this. I think this boiler is defective.
