The Rinnai Ultra is a wall-mounted, condensing tankless water heater with an energy factor of up to .96. The Ultra is Energy Star qualified and available in five sizes: 130,000, 152,000, 160,000, 180,000 and 199,000 BTU. Its two heat exchanger design increases efficiency and durability while reducing maintenance, and an integrated recirculation pump helps keep a steady supply of hot water in the supply line, which reduces water usage while creating a faster supply of heated water. The unit provides flexible venting by allowing for either concentric polypropylene or dual-pipe PVC/CPVC venting.
Don't waste your money. We have had ongoing issues with our 18 month old rur98e outdoor unit since it was installed. In November, the circuit board went out and Rinnai was out of the part and instead made our installer try to fix it for over 2 days and unfortunately they were unable to repair it. It was Thanksgiving weekend so our installer was able to provide us a temporary unit from another project since the new circuit board would not arrive for at least 6 weeks! Really, Rinnai expected us to be without hot water in the middle of winter. Now Rinnai is telling us the labor is not covered and we have to pay it because their product is crap. Shady company, poor quality. Do not recommend this company or their products.
Low water pressure, lukewarm water, and it takes forever to go from cold to lukewarm. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I will be replacing it with a Rheem unit next week. What a waste of money!
"Greatest change I have ever made"
I just recently changed my water heater. About 4 months ago I got fed up with running out of hot water when we were all getting ready in the morning, so I started to look into alternatives and found out about the tankless water heater. I immediately got my bills to get my usage rate and find something that could supply enough hot water for my family. The last water heater was getting rusted, and instead of fixing it we went with this better option. The operating costs are cheaper, and it does a better job. Also, it is not much more expensive than the tank model. I do recommend this to everyone, I can't believe it is not our default water heater system. I can't say I dislike anything about it, and all of its features are way better. It is less bulky, and better looking than the older one, and it does a better job.

If like most of us you grew up with a tank of hot water that was continuously hot, then the heat as you go "sounded" good. Not so. I have this unit, commercial grade since I have four bathrooms, in a new house. I rent this as a premium vacation rental. I have constant and continual problems with renters – in a premium property remind you- that have no hot water. Always a new problem. The engineering on this is terrible. Pay attention to these reviews. Get a tank.

"Nobody will work on them"
Dealers love to install them, but nobody will repair them. The Rinnai reps will keep you on hold hoping you get frustrated and hang up. They will give you absolutely no helpful information. They will string you along till you get tired and frustrated and just hang up and go to a tanked system.
