The Rheem Performance is a water heater available in both gas and electric models. The gas units range in capacity from 28 to 98 gallons, with an energy factor of up to .67, and are available with several venting options including direct vent and power vent, as well as atmospheric and direct vent units designed for manufactured housing. Electric units range in capacity from 6 to 50 gallons, with an energy factor of up to .95. Electric units include a point-of-use model which can be installed in small spaces, a Table Top model for installation in kitchens which require more counter space, and a model designed for manufactured housing.
We recently purchased a new home and within 6 months the water heater stopped working. After doing some research we came across the Rheem Performance 40 gallon heater. We have owned the unit for about 6 months now and have almost no complaints at all. Water heats up quick and stays hot for a pretty good amount of time. This is a huge issue for us since both of us like to take rather long showers. With our old unit we would be out of water literally within five minutes if we were both taking showers. Now we both can be in shower at same time and easily lasts us over 20 minutes. The only time I have ever had an issue was when doing the dishes, using the washing machine, and both of us taking separate showers, and this is obviously not something that happens frequently. Overall I have no complaints at all about this water heater and would recommend it to anybody in the market.

"Review of my water heater"
I have owned this water heater for only about 6 months but have loved it. It seems to heat water up rather quickly. I haven't noticed anything I really dislike about it yet. So far we haven't needed to perform any sort of repairs on it and it doesn't appear that we will need to anytime in the near future. I am quite please with our choice in water heaters for our home and wouldn't choose different if I had to do it all over again.
"Rheem preformance water heater gets the job done!"
My wife and I started looking for a new water heater when ours went out a few years ago. There were so many options on the market that we were a little confused about what kind of heater we should go with. However on the recommendation of one of our friends, we went with this Rheem model and I can honestly say that we are quite satisfied. The installation of the unit was fairly easy, my wife and I were able to self-install within a few hours' time. The heater has provided good heat throughout the year and high yields in particular when we shower (my wife likes to take long showers in excess of 15 minutes and never has an issue running out of water). Our dishwasher, washing machine and sinks also have great performance. We have had the unit for close to three years without any issues, and have recommended it to other family members when their units when down as well.
This unit does not drain from the bottom pan, so condensation or water entering from the side combustion vents or from the top vent will collect in the bottom pan and shut down the unit. Rheem considers this a 'flooded' unit and it voids the warranty. Excuse me, they call it 'bypassed', as in the warranty is 'bypassed' because of the 'flooding'. The tech that came out to fix my unit when it died after only a month immediately said "It rained hard this weekend, it's probably got water in the bottom". He was right, it took about 2 minutes to fix by vacuuming out the water. But, Rheem will not cover the 'repair' and has 'bypassed' the warranty and will not cover any future failure no matter what the failure is.

"Residential Gas Water Boiler"
I own the Rheem residential gas water heater. This is the first time I have used this company and I am pleasantly surprised. It is a very good water heater for the price. I highly recommend this company. Also the warranty on it is just what I need. If you plan on purchasing a water heater for your home this is the perfect choice. In all the time I have owned this water heater it has never let me down. In the three years of ownership it has never broken down or needed any type of repairs. I honestly can not say there is anything wrong with this water heater. I have owned some larger brand water heaters, before however there have been some problems with them and with this boiler there is nothing I can say wrong about it. For my second home I will definitely purchase the same company water heater again. Really if anyone needs a water heater they should at least try this company once and I guarantee they will not be unhappy with the purchase. I have recommended this company's water heaters to all my friends and family.
There are very few online comments regarding the Rheem Performance water heater on HVAC forums. A consumer on terrylove.com asked for opinions about the Performance versus the Performance Plus and Performance Platinum, with the majority of responses favoring the Platinum. The main reason listed was the higher energy factor.
