The Rheem RASL-JEC air conditioner is a two-stage split system equipped with Rheem’s trademarked “Comfort Control System” The RASL-JEC is part of the Rheem Prestige family of air conditioners. The RASL-JEC is the same machine as the Ruud UASL-JEC.
When paired with the proper air handler or furnace to distribute cool air, some configurations can reach efficiencies of 19.5 SEER.
Comfort Control System
The Comfort Control System allows the RASL-JEC to communicate with compatible thermostats, air handlers, furnaces and other HVAC components. The thermostat can then notify the homeowner that service is needed in the event that a problem occurs. The system can also store the most recent six fault codes so that a contractor can diagnose problems with the system.
Noisy vs. Quiet
Rheem has measured the noise level of RASL-JEC at 74 decibels. This is high relative to a number of other up-market central air conditioners.
I spent $10,000 on 2 units for my home. After the first year it has been a nightmare. Over $4,000 in labor costs to replace parts over the past 4 years. The units are only 6 years old. Rheem's answer is the parts are free! Big deal. The money I save in electricity on the units I spend 2 times over in labor. Do not buy Rheem junk!

Our contractor recommended this brand when our home was built in 2009. Since then we have had to replace leaking coils and now the fan motor of the inside unit has stopped working. I would only recommend this company's product to someone I really disliked.

We purchased this ac unit through Home Depot 16 months ago. It's a piece of S#!T. The repairman said it was leaking Freon, and he had to do a leak detector test to determine the source of the leak, Cost $200+. It turned out that the leak was from the coil, which makes me wonder if an experienced repairman couldn't have figured that out based on his knowledge of these systems. Bottom line Final cost $600 for the test and replacement of 9 lbs of Freon, plus another $600 to repair/replace the coil (should we decide to do so – cynical). This is insane. Warning – stay away from Rheem, and help put pressure on Home Depot to drop them, before they bring them down.

In less than 3 years we have replaced the Main Circuit Breaker, Computer Control Board, evaporator coil and condenser coil. It just broke again only six months after replacing the coil. Could not obtain any allowance from Distributor or Manufacturer and have spent over $2,000 in repairs when the parts were under warranty. Do not purchase a Rheem.

Do not buy Rheem! Do not buy Rheem! I'm writing this review in the hope that if one person out there see's this that would be great!!!! Just had 2 Rheems, 18 seer rasl-024jec units put in (their top of the line units). The total cost was 15,000 and counting. They do not get the house cold until the sun goes down. Last night, it was 74 outside and 76 inside at 10pm. I'm in the process of having the units removed. Research better than I did. Do not take your contractors advice. They push Rheem because they are better profits. There's profit in numbers.
