Sta-Kleen 805Corporate History
The Reliance Water Heater Co. brand was established as a part of State Industries, Inc. in 1981. State Industries was acquired by A.O. Smith in 2001. Reliance water heaters are sold exclusively by hardware and home improvement stores.
Product Lines
Reliance manufactures gas and electric residential storage tank water heaters, as well as gas tankless heaters. All 34 models of their tankless line are Energy Star rated, and 23 of their 25 high-efficiency models are Energy Star rated. Raliance offers two Energy Star rated electric heat pump water heaters, in 50- and 80-gallon capacities.
The Reliance Sta-Kleen 1212 and Self-Cleaning 909 water heaters are designed to automatically reduce the buildup of lime and other sediments inside the tank. According to the company, this will reduce corrosion and aid in heat transfer.
Warranty
Reliance’s warranties vary by product, ranging from 1 to 12 years of coverage on tanks and parts. During this time the company will replace the water heater at no charge in the event of tank leaks, or component parts if they malfunction. These warranties apply if the failure is due to a manufacturing defect. Reliance tankless models have a 15-year heat exchanger and 5-year parts warranty.
