Corporate History
Portage and Main was founded in 1973 by Andy Naggy in a small home workshop. Naggy retired in 2005 but the company continues to develop new products and sell them throughout North America.
Product Lines
Portage and Main offers several series of outdoor wood boilers, including the EGR Optimizer wood gasification unit, which burns gases and exhaust in a secondary chamber at temperatures over 2000 degrees to produce efficiencies in the 85% range with lower emissions.
The Enviro-Chip series burns biomass chips of 1.5 to 2 inches and burns 1/3 to 1/2 less wood, according to the company. The Ultimizer series features a conventional outdoor boiler design and a fire chamber lined with 2-1/2 inches of refractory cement.
Warranty
Portage and Main offers a 20-year fire chamber warranty, pro-rated after the second year, along with a 1-year warranty on electrical components and a 3-year warranty on shaker grates.
