Troubleshooting and Maintenance
The owner's manual lists some tips regarding the stove, a few of which we will cover here.
Ash disposal should be in a steel container with a tight lid, brought outside, and kept away from combustibles.
The company cautions against burning green wood, which they claim gets 60% of the efficiency as dry seasoned cordwood, and that it may also create a cleaning issue with creosote.
Pleasant Hearth identifies a few issues that could result in difficulty getting a fire started. Poor draft, or damp or wet wood could cause the fire not to ignite. According to the company, even wood that has been dried for two years can be difficult to light if it becomes wet. Thick, black smoke is a sign of poor draft. Poor draft, couple with a cold firebox can lead to soot on the glass.
