The Peerless Purefire is a gas-fired condensing boiler series for residential and commercial applications. Reaching up to 95 percent AFUE, this series meets Energy Star standards for efficiency and offers a small footprint, with select models standing only 36 inches tall.
The Purefire is available in nine sizes, including six residential models ranging in heating outputs from 47 to 195 MBH. Features include a modulating burner for increased efficiency, stainless steel burner and heat exchanger and a condensate neutralizer system.
A direct-vent with sealed combustion, enhanced control board features, eco-friendly LoNOx operation and a stainless steel cabinet are additional components to this series. The Purefire also has outdoor reset capability and can be configured for natural or LP gas. Every unit is factory tested before shipment.
This was professionally installed in June 2011. More than a dozen service calls in 2 1/2 years, including a significant re-installation and adjustment within first year. One module failed in first year (Xmas Eve 2011). Second, other module failed New Year's Day 2014. Installer sold me on having all parts available. WRONG! Pestered to get first major repair with a house full of 18 people on Xmas Eve. Cannot get part for 2nd episode on NY Day 2014. Also told that this HVAC company no longer sells this boiler because of all the problems. Finally, does not seem to be as efficient as told. Trying to find attorney to get new boiler.

"JUNK! Do no buy! Igniter fails weekly."

I signed up just to chime in, and am hoping that perhaps some kind of lawsuit will be brought against this company. We purchased our home this past Summer, and our first winter has been nothing but a cold, cold nightmare as the unit continuously suffers from an ignition failure. I have learned to clean the igniter, and that usually helps, but it is still failing constantly. Do not purchase these units.

"I Love my Great New Peerless Purefire PF-110 Boiler"

I bought my Purefire boiler around one year ago. So far it has been amazing, I haven't really had any major problems with it. It's extremely high efficiency, which is great, and it's known to be one of the best tested boilers out there! It's got a quick stainless-steel heat exchanger, so it keeps things warm and toasty in my home. I haven't found anything to dislike so far, this is the best boiler I've ever bought. I've never had to repair or replace it, it is still a fairly new boiler, and there have never been any issues that needed repairing. I would most definitely buy another boiler from the same brand, this boiler has been great so far. I would recommend it to any friends who were looking for a boiler, I'm sure they'd enjoy it as much as I do.

"I Love My Peerless Purfire Boiler!"

We've only owned our Peerless Purefire boiler for a few months, but so far we love it! It's energy efficient, quiet and works like a charm – our water was so hot after we installed it, we had to turn the temperature down! The only thing we could say that is negative about it was that it was a bit more expensive than other brands, HOWEVER, it was well worth a little extra money for the quality and reliability of the Peerless brand. We have had no problems, so far and we don't anticipate any. We would absolutely buy this boiler again and will be recommending it to our friends.

We got rid of our old oil boiler and went with a new gas in Nov. 2008. We installed a Peerless Purefire PF-140-LP, it should be named Peerless PUREJUNK!! There have been nothing but issues since we put it in. In Jan. of 2009 we had to leave the house for the weekend as the CO detector went off (thankfully we had one or we would be dead). The boiler came from the factory with a lid not screwed on properly therefore allowing CO to escape. Then in Spring of 2009 the entire motherboard had to be replaced. Gee then it worked okay for a few months, but now as usual it shuts off for no reason whatsoever. Now we are getting an A05 error code and the company says we are out of warranty!! Gee the 42 year old furnace gave us way less grief!! DO not BUY, Warn everyone!!
Although several contractors posting on online discussion forums praise the Peerless Purefire series’ sleek design features, including the interface screen designed for easy programming, few homeowners across the web are as pleased with the unit. Sites such as contractortalk.com or heatinghelp.com host forums with a variety of customer complaints and troubleshooting issues. Instances of the boiler leaking, the unit failing to fire, faulty control boards and the unit not heating water are among the problems reported.
The review site hvac-for-beginners.com notes that the Purefire’s condensate management system is a unique feature and the durable stainless steel construction is a benefit to the unit, but mentions that the warranty on the unit is not very comprehensive.
