The Peerless Purefire is a gas-fired condensing boiler series for residential and commercial applications. Reaching up to 95 percent AFUE, this series meets Energy Star standards for efficiency and offers a small footprint, with select models standing only 36 inches tall.
The Purefire is available in nine sizes, including six residential models ranging in heating outputs from 47 to 195 MBH. Features include a modulating burner for increased efficiency, stainless steel burner and heat exchanger and a condensate neutralizer system.
A direct-vent with sealed combustion, enhanced control board features, eco-friendly LoNOx operation and a stainless steel cabinet are additional components to this series. The Purefire also has outdoor reset capability and can be configured for natural or LP gas. Every unit is factory tested before shipment.
If you need something reliable look elsewhere, this unit has been nothing but problems since the day it was put in. Constant problems with the ignition. The time it has been an issue is numerous and if you go away in the winter you will eventually come home to a frozen house.
We are on our second Purefire 210 boiler since the end of 2012. The first unit failed during the winter of 2015 due to a cracked heat exchanger. It was out of warranty and the contractor installed a replacement at cost since peerless refused to help. The current Purefire 210 started to make a grinding noise from the purge motor. The cost to repair was $700. We had this installed before the heating season this fall. The unit was working good for about a week until the unit quit igniting. The contractor came and spent two hours trying to figure it out. It is getting gas, spark but will not ignite. These units are not worth the hassle and money. We wish we had never been heard of this brand.
Our first PF210 was installed in 2013. It lasted through April 2015, barely. Heat exchanger was cracked. Warranty consisted of me buying a replacement at cost. The blower motor went bad after the winter 2017-18. Out of warranty, $900 part. Customer service is terrible from the factory. I hate this pos. Junk!
"Pretty good with maintenance"
The previous owner put this in a few years before I bought the house. I love it . You have to clean the igniter spark plug about 2x a year which takes 5 minutes, other than that.. It's so efficient!
Constant problems with ignition failures. I have replaced the igniter 4 times this winter (very expensive). I would avoid Peerless products at all costs.
Although several contractors posting on online discussion forums praise the Peerless Purefire series’ sleek design features, including the interface screen designed for easy programming, few homeowners across the web are as pleased with the unit. Sites such as contractortalk.com or heatinghelp.com host forums with a variety of customer complaints and troubleshooting issues. Instances of the boiler leaking, the unit failing to fire, faulty control boards and the unit not heating water are among the problems reported.
The review site hvac-for-beginners.com notes that the Purefire’s condensate management system is a unique feature and the durable stainless steel construction is a benefit to the unit, but mentions that the warranty on the unit is not very comprehensive.
