Peerless Pinnacle Boiler Overview

Peerless offers in its Pinnacle Series both a gas- and oil-burning boiler. Offering a 95-percet AFUE, the gas burning unit is available in five models, using either natural or LP gas. The oil burning model is Energy Star-approved and has an AFUE of up to 92 percent.

The Pinnacle has two wall-mounted options and, according to the manufacturer, its compact, lightweight design was intended to ease installation in tight spots. This model also features a user-friendly control board equipped with outdoor reset control, advanced water temperature monitoring and an LED digital display of system settings.

A direct vent, a spark ignition, stainless steel construction, fully modulating burner and a metal mesh burner designed to reduce emissions are additional components of the Peerless Pinnacle.

"Not worth the aggravation"

The system works great when its running. Problem is how unreliable it is because of the faulty circuitry . Am seriously considering a replacement, can't afford to risk freezing pipes in our Colorado home

"This Unit Almost Made One Winter"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

This unit almost made one winter. Company is one of the worst I have ever had to deal with. They can't even give me the name of someone that is trained on these things. We have tried different HVAC people, they all come up with the same answer. I don't know but that will be two hundred plus parts. I offered the company to fly one of their reps here but had no takers. If the guy in New York that thinks it's the installer, give me the name of your guy. Maybe if fly him here.

"Understanding of the Unit is Evolving"

4.0 rating
Somewhat Satisfied

Unit had been installed in 2005, I bought my home in 2007. Initially, it ran well. Chewed up the dungs valve swirl plate and noticed corrosion. Concrete inlet/outlet is a recommended fitting, but allows for combustion products to be sucked in and will foul the equipment. Use 3" diameter PVC pipe to extend exhaust a few feet. Combustion chamber must be cleaned, use a plastic credit card to run between the coils. Buy replacement burner gaskets, make sure the internal burner screws are very clean which allows the flame rectification circuit to operate properly. Keep flame rod and igniter rod clean with Scotch-Brite. Treat it well and it will keep you warm.

"This Company and its Products are a JOKE"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

New home constructed in 2004 and equipped with a Pinnacle boiler. Within 3 months, it failed and was rebuilt under warranty. Next year, it failed again and this time it was replaced with another Pinnacle. When it failed a year later it was replaced with a Purefire, which worked well for about two years, and then the cycle began again. The last repair bill a month ago was more than a third the cost of a new one. And, it has failed again! I am now replacing it with a different brand, but the reviews on them are not much better than the performance I've experienced with the Peerless Junk.

Other Pinnacle Reviews

Overall, HVAC contractors and consumers on hvac-talk.com recommend Peerless products to shoppers looking for a new cooling system. Happy homeowners comment on how quickly the unit heats up their home and the longevity of the unit.

Conversely, threads and comments on complaintsboard.com and heatinghelp.com reflect various troubleshooting issues with this unit. Homeowners report frequent system errors, temperature swings and key electrical components breaking down, including the fan/board assembly, gas value and hot-surface igniters. Consumers also note the high cost for the repairs, even with the warranty.

Poor customer service from Peerless also is a frequent grievance on complaintsboard.com. Improper installation, failure to follow up with maintenance issues and a limited warranty are among the most common complaints.
