Peerless offers in its Pinnacle Series both a gas- and oil-burning boiler. Offering a 95-percet AFUE, the gas burning unit is available in five models, using either natural or LP gas. The oil burning model is Energy Star-approved and has an AFUE of up to 92 percent.
The Pinnacle has two wall-mounted options and, according to the manufacturer, its compact, lightweight design was intended to ease installation in tight spots. This model also features a user-friendly control board equipped with outdoor reset control, advanced water temperature monitoring and an LED digital display of system settings.
A direct vent, a spark ignition, stainless steel construction, fully modulating burner and a metal mesh burner designed to reduce emissions are additional components of the Peerless Pinnacle.
We have had numerous problems and have two local HVAC repair people on speed dial. Every time we have a service call, it works for a while, but then another issue pops up. It was the most expensive part of our new construction, as we did all of the other work ourselves, but it looks like we will be replacing it soon.
"My 10 year old boiler is shot!"
My home is 10 years old and after dumping $4,000 into repairs on this piece of garbage, I was just told my boiler is shot and needs to be replaced. The model # is P-104LPREV1 (not available above so I just picked the closest) and the rep told me they only last 10-15 years. I had this boiler serviced every year but it just keeps going out and left me without heat and hot water for more than 15 days this cold winter. I was living out of a bag and staying with friends. How can they get away with selling such an inferior product? After reading all these reviews, it looks like most everyone is very dissatisfied. I am more than happy to join a class action suit. Looks like a new boiler is going to cost me another $9,000. I am extremely frustrated.

Have problems with this boiler. The P1-140 is a piece of SH*T. This company sucks!
"I'm lucky I'm such a handy guy"
I replaced my scary old reliable 30 year old boiler in 2005 for $8000. The plumber didn't know what he was doing. I'm an embedded systems engineer and work on commercial boilers so I know my way around this kind of stuff. Flame would burn back through supply a/f tube. Very noisy and scary. Upgraded cpu, experimental burner assy, sensors over first two years. I've finally got the hang of it. Frequent cleanings, clean flame sensor, lot$ of gaskets. Adj air fuel by ear, manual specified %co no good. I generally get about 2 months between fiddles.
"Breaks once a year"
I bought this unit in the Fall of 2008 and have had to replace 2 control boards since then. Each time well over $1,000 to replace the boards. I would NOT recommend Peerless/Pinnacle equipment to anyone.
Overall, HVAC contractors and consumers on hvac-talk.com recommend Peerless products to shoppers looking for a new cooling system. Happy homeowners comment on how quickly the unit heats up their home and the longevity of the unit.
Conversely, threads and comments on complaintsboard.com and heatinghelp.com reflect various troubleshooting issues with this unit. Homeowners report frequent system errors, temperature swings and key electrical components breaking down, including the fan/board assembly, gas value and hot-surface igniters. Consumers also note the high cost for the repairs, even with the warranty.
Poor customer service from Peerless also is a frequent grievance on complaintsboard.com. Improper installation, failure to follow up with maintenance issues and a limited warranty are among the most common complaints.
