Navigator Stove Works is a manufacturer of tiny cast iron wood stoves. Navigator Stove Works is a private company located on Orcas Island, Washington.
The Lunenburg Foundry was founded in 1891 and produced marine equipment, including cast iron stoves, until the 1990’s. Navigator Stove Works acquired the rights to a select number of their stoves and has been building cast iron wood stoves since 1997. The stoves are small, designed to heat areas of 300 square feet or less. They were originally designed for use on boats but are also being used for applications on land where a larger stove is too big.
Navigator Stove Works has four models of cast iron stove. The Sardine, Little Cod and Halibut use wood, while the Herring is a Biodiesel / diesel stove. The Sardine measures 12x 2 x 11 inches and has an efficiency of 86%. The Little Cod measures 13 x 18 x 13.75 inches, with an efficiency of 74%. The Halibut features an oven and a high temp glass window in the upper firebox door, and measures 20.75 x 16 x 18.5 inches. The Herring, the biodiesel/diesel unit, measures 12 x 13 x 28 and has a high temperature glass window.
