Reviews by Wood Furnace Series

re’s Comfort manufactures outdoor wood and coal boilers, pellet stoves, and solar water heaters. The company is located in Shipshewana, IN, and is privately owned.

Corporate History

Nature’s Comfort was founded in 2006 by Dave Nyhof and his son Eric in Lancaster, WI. Beginning with a corn furnace he created for his own use, Dave started selling another brand of outdoor wood furnaces soon after. After his manufacturer was unable to meet demand, Dave designed and built his own unit. In 2010 Nature’s Comfort relocated to Shipshewana, IN to be centrally located and closer to fabrication plants in Amish nation, with their strong work ethic and pride in the quality of their work. The company states that their products are made by the Amish.

Product Lines

Nature’s Comfort core product line includes a series wood boilers that range from 115,000 – 500,000 BTUs. This series includes the NCB-80, NCB-120, NCB-175, NCB-250, NCB-275G, NCB-325G, NCB-400G. The number in the series name refers to the number of gallons of water stored in the water jacket that surrounds the firebox. In 2012 the company introduced the GT-6000, which was its first EPA Phase II Qualified Outdoor Furnace.

Because of new EPA regulations, Nature’s Comfort outdoor wood boilers can only be purchased for non-residential use. Coal furnaces are available in all models and can still be used for residential use.

Nature’s Comfort coal and wood boilers are covered by a limited 20-year parts and labor on-site warranty on the firebox and water jacket. The unit does not have to be shipped back to the manufacturer, it will be repaired on-site. The company states that the boiler must be “properly delivered, installed and maintained”.

If you have a warranty issue, the manufacturer recommends that you begin working with your dealer first, and that you be prepared to provide proof of purchase, proof of treatment and testing and appliance model and serial number.
