The Luxaire TCJD is a discontinued split-system air conditioner with an efficiency rating of 13 SEER. The unit’s compressor featured a high pressure relief valve and a temperature sensor for internal protection, while a factory installed liquid line filter drier protected against moisture and debris. An aluminum microchannel coil provided increased efficiency and was protected by a stamped steel coil guard and a secondary polymer mesh. A rigid top panel, isolator mounted compressor and upward air flow combined to help provide low operating sound levels. Permanently lubricated motor bearings needed no servicing, and a single access panel over the electrical controls allowed easy servicing of the unit. The TCJD used R-410A refrigerant.
I purchased a Luxaire 13 seer 2 ton a/c in 2011 and just over 5 years later (literally 2 months past the warranty period) it would not hold freon…..spent another $1,300 to try to find the problem, fix it and next summer same thing!!! Found out it has 3 leaks in the Coil and is not under warranty!!!!! Had to buy another a/c unit and it won't be Luxaire!!!!!!!
"Luxaire AC installation"
The Luxaire unit was recommended by our contractor, Weathervane Heating & Cooling. Their recommendation was made after a complete inspection of our previous appliance and interviews with my spouse and I about our current concerns and future needs. Weathervane had previously recommended and installed a Luxaire furnace in our home and we have been very satisfied with their choice and the follow-up service. We 100% satisfied with our choice of contractor and the Luxaire product they recommended.
"New system at old house"
After nearly 20 years, my old Luxaire finally quit at the end of last summer. A great system that held up many years past its life expectancy. This unit was recommended due to the size of the house and cost of installation versus the investment required to maintain an older home. Chose to replace the old Luxaire with a newer version and refrigerant type. I hope the new R-410A is as good as the old school R-22.
The new A/C unit is more covered, so it will get fewer fuzzies from all my flowering trees! The old coil had rusted through and water was pouring all over my basement floor. I bought a new furnace in December, and thought I could make it through another summer without replacing the A/C. I bought the same brand as my furnace, and now I don't worry about leaving the house! Everything is new.
"Luxaire 3.5 Ton 13 SEER A/C System"
This unit is very quiet and reliable. Starts fast and the installation went quickly. The design is also nice – would complement most any home. I would recommend. I would also highly recommend my installer, Cutting Edge Mechanical, in Rockford Michigan if you are in West Michigan. Very prompt, professional and courteous service. Answered all my questions and excellent clean up – would have never known they were here. Great price too!
Other TCJD Reviews
Online comments regarding the TCJD on HVAC forums are mixed. A homeowner on hvac-talk.com asking for opinions of the TCJD received both good and bad comments regarding the unit. One professional stated that he’d heard bad things about the microchannel coil, while another one said there are very few problems with the coils. Another post on the same site was from a homeowner who tried to call Luxaire regarding a problem with a TCJD unit and was not pleased with the customer service.
