The C.A. Olsen Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1939, and began making warm-air furnaces in 1940 and air conditioners in 1954. Westinghouse Electric Corp. acquired the C.A. Olsen Co. in 1955, and changed its name to Luxaire Inc. in 1965. York’s then-parent company, Borg-Warner, purchased Luxaire in 1981. York was purchased by Johnson Controls in 2005. Today York, and Luxaire, are owned by Johnson Controls Inc.
Luxaire markets its heating and cooling systems under the trade names Acclimate, LX and Climasure. Top-tier air conditioners and heat pumps reach up to 18 SEER and include features such as SilentDrive technology for reducing noise during operation. Furnaces range from 80 to 98 percent AFUE ratings, and are available with options such as single or variable speed functions. In addition to these products, Luxaire also manufactures several lines of highly efficient mini-split air conditioners and heat pumps for homes that do not have ductwork.

Luxaire’s standard warranty includes 10-year coverage on parts and heat exchangers, while several air conditioners and heat pumps come with a limited lifetime compressor warranty. Units must be registered online within 90 days of installation, or the parts warranty reverts to 5 years of coverage. Expanded plans, such as the separate 10-year parts and labor warranty, also are available for purchase.
