The Lochinvar Power Vented Gas water heater features a power vent system for sidewall or rooftop termination and is available in 40, 50 and 75 gallon capacities. It has an energy factor of .70 and is Energy Star qualified. It has an electronic gas control with an LED status indicator to help monitor the system. A high-capacity anode rod protects the water heater from corrosion, and heat traps built into the inlet and outlet water connections help eliminate heat loss. The glass-lined steel tank is corrosion resistant, and a thick layer of foam insulation reduces standby heat loss and improves efficiency.
As a homeowner for more than 30 years I have quite a bit of experience with hot water heaters. This is the first time I have had problems after less than 3 years. Paid over $2300 to have this 74 gallon unit installed. I am having the same trouble as another reviewer – flame goes out, enters lockout cycle and then must reset, but the flame will not stay lit. Seems the sensor is bad, but it is not dirty. And we must wait for parts so a week without hot water in the winter is terrible. I will never buy another Lochinvar.

"Terrible water heater do not buy!"

We had a 75 gallon gas water heater installed in our newly built home. It malfunctioned at 6 months of use. The plumbers have come out 9 times in the past 2 years for the very same problem. They have replaced multiple parts, they don't know what is wrong. Now the warranty is out for the free labor. So each time the machine malfunctions we have to pay a hefty bill. The pilot light won't stay lit, it seems as if it is starving for gas. Cold showers all the time! Nobody is fixing it! I am so angry! I would have been better off purchasing a water heater from a local box store! The only way to get that machine to run is to unplug it, wait, plug it back in and cross your fingers. Really sad that neither the plumbing company nor the manufacturer will stand by their product!

"Way too Hot & 2 gas valve replacements, still not working right"

The temp on this water heater is not very controllable. It is either 135 or 80. No settings work in between. I have burnt my hands twice now and am afraid it will happen again. I actually have to make a 2 minute ritual of a simple thing like washing my hands. It is supposed to be more energy efficient but if you have to fine tune the faucet for a decent temp for a minute all savings are lost. I wish I could return it and buy a different brand.
