Lochinvar Energy Saver Residential Gas Water heater Overview
The Lochinvar Energy Saver Residential Gas Water Heater has an energy factor of up to .63 and is available in 30, 40 and 50 gallon capacities in short and tall configurations. It has an electronic gas control and an LED status indicator to help monitor the unit, and the glass-lined steel tank has a thick layer of non-CFC foam insulation which improves efficiency by reducing standby heat loss. A high capacity anode rod inhibits tank corrosion, and heat traps built into the inlet and outlet connections help prevent heat loss in the water piping. A brass drain valve and a temperature and pressure relief valve are factory installed.
The water is always scalding hot! When taking a shower, it has to be close to the initial on position to have a comfortable water temperature. Forget about ever wanting to take a cold shower! I live in Arizona and in the summer, after a long run, I'd like to do that but can't! We burn our hands frequently when washing pots and pans in the kitchen sink. It's impossible to control. The company has already been out once to replace the gas valve, thinking maybe it wasn't working properly. It hasn't changed anything. We have a home warranty and the unit was installed through that. It's a hassle to keep calling them to complain. I feel like I'm stuck with this! I want my old brand back!

Very Satisfied
Have been using this heater for 26 years, it's still working and looks good. I'm thinking it will go at least a couple more years. Could not be more happy.

"I bought a 40-gallon natural gas water heater 6 years ago."

Very Unsatisfied
Bought a 40-gallon natural gas water heater 6 years ago. Kept it on low heat, not used much by a 78 year old widow. Now they say it needs an expensive piece. No more Lochinvar for me. I would not recommend this to anyone ever. My last different brand lasted 17 years with no maintenance at all. I feel I should get some help on this expense. I'm not satisfied at all.

Had this water heater installed in 2-2014, it worked fine until 2-2015. The pilot light will not stay lit. The manufacturer replaced the unit on 3-6-2015; however, I had to pay the people to install it and make a home call, $125.00. The new unit worked until 3-16-2015; had to light the pilot, the same procedure May 3, 2015. It lit long enough to light the burner, which worked for about 15 minutes. Then the pilot would not light again. I then called the company that installed the replacement. Waiting for them to get back to me, now I have no hot water. If you don't want an armload of problems, don't buy this product.

"Review of Lochinvar Water Heater"

Somewhat Satisfied
We installed a new Lochinvar water heater shortly after moving into our new house. The old one was shot and barley produced any hot water. The new water heater works very well. It heats water quickly, in addition it always seems like we have enough hot water in the tank. Relighting the pilot light is pretty simple and the tank has simple to follow controls for turning up the temperature. I have noticed that our gas bills are slightly lower than when we first moved in. The new water heater is the only change we made related to gas in the house, so I am assuming this model is more efficient than the last. I would recommend this model to a friend as so far it has been reliable and we have had no issues. The tank seems to be well construct and very solid. Overall it is a solid, reliable water heater that does what we need it to do.
