Lochinvar Energy Saver Residential Gas Water heater Overview
The Lochinvar Energy Saver Residential Gas Water Heater has an energy factor of up to .63 and is available in 30, 40 and 50 gallon capacities in short and tall configurations. It has an electronic gas control and an LED status indicator to help monitor the unit, and the glass-lined steel tank has a thick layer of non-CFC foam insulation which improves efficiency by reducing standby heat loss. A high capacity anode rod inhibits tank corrosion, and heat traps built into the inlet and outlet connections help prevent heat loss in the water piping. A brass drain valve and a temperature and pressure relief valve are factory installed.
Strongly recommend against anything sold by Lochinvar. I just spent $20,000 on a whole new boiler setup, including a Lochinvar combination boiler and indirect water tank. Some technical installation questions have come up. I waited on hold for an hour yesterday on their tech line and they never answered it. I'm calling again today and still they do not pick up. Looks like they have one person who has to answer all calls. If I had known how bad they are, I would have told the contractor to avoid Lochinvar. Who cares how good their products are if they refuse to answer tech questions when you desperately need help.

"Waste of Money"
Had a Lochinvar installed in my house August 2016. In August 2018 (2 years and 1 day later) it began leaking during a showing of my house, which was for sale. While the cost of the tank was covered under the warranty, it still cost nearly $1,000 in parts and labor to install the new one. When a heater fails that soon after installation, everything should be covered. There is no excuse for failure after 2 years. My last water heater (not a Lochinvar) lasted over 10. Don't waste your money.
We bought a new home 13 years ago and had no control over what brand the builder installed. The unit came with a 6 year warranty, 13 years later the only issue is a popping sound which is calcium buildup on the element. Still working great but we are going to replace it with another Lochnivar since we had no problems with the original.
"NOT Safe. Burn hazard"
No matter which heat setting you choose, the hot water comes out at 135 degrees F. I am so tired of getting burned every day. 🙁
"Apartment complex installation"
Year old and having problems keeping 40 gallon units lit. I have already changed the gas valve and igniter assembly. Very unsatisfied.
