The Lochinvar Knight Floor Standing Boiler is a high-efficiency condensing unit with an efficiency rating of 95% AFUE. The Floor Standing lineup is Energy Star compliant and features five models ranging from 80,000 to 285,000 Btu/hr. It has a direct spark ignition and low NOx operation, and a two-in-one stainless steel heat exchanger has a weld-sealed design, meaning no O-rings or gaskets. The Smart System control has a large LCD color display and provides system diagnostic and troubleshooting information, and is CON-X-US enabled for remote management. The boiler provides five venting options for horizontal and vertical direct venting up to 100 feet.
Had this boiler since 2009. I have wasted so much $$ on service calls, at least three times a year, every year. Various lock out codes, gv Relay Fails, Sensor Fails, etc., etc. With all the money I've spent on service calls, I could have paid for a replacement boiler, by another manufacturer of course. Terrible boiler. It has been off, more than it has been on. How do these units pass quality control?

Very Unsatisfied
I'm a service tech for a company that installs many Lochinvar boilers. We also service Lochinvar products installed by others The vast majority of problems with these boilers fall in to two categories. 1) lack of regular maintenance & 2) installation errors. We have found them to be very versatile & reliable. I can't help but wonder if the reports of multiple problems here are caused by improper installation and if the "technicians" working on them have had factory training. I would not hesitate to install one in my own home if I had hydronic heat.

"10 years and no problems"
5.0 rating
Very Satisfied
Knight Boiler was installed in 2007, a three person crew installed it. One guy handled the Programming/electronics. I have had no problems. Actually, no one has touched it in 10 years. I'm reading the reviews here and just can't believe the problems most owners are having. Maybe I have one of the early models that has no problems. I do have a whole home water filter and change the condensing water filter every year. I'm almost afraid to have anyone look at it in fear they will mess something up.

"Worst furnace ever!!!!"
1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied
We have had this furnace for 5 years and have had to make at least 15 to 20 service calls for the furnace unit shutting off. There were some times when the reset button would allow the furnace to start back up but that no longer works. Sensors have been replaced at least 3 times as well as the overflow pump. As long as we are home we can address this but if are not this can lead to other problems in cold weather. This is getting out of hand and we are very frustrated. Our furnace repairman is also not getting the support from this company. Our product is definitely a lemon and needs to be replaced!

"Acid content of waste water"
3.0 rating
Neutral
We just had the furnace technician complete the yearly maintenance on our Lochinvar boiler. He informed us that the company was recently informed that the waste eater from this unit (not sure about other models that were installed from 2012 on) has an acidic content that over time (?) can do damage to the pipes that would go to either the municipal water system or one's septic system. I called the heating company who installed the system and they immediately said that it is not their problem but the manufacturer's. The apparent solution is the installation of a limestone filter (and I don't know how long one filter lasts). I have yet to be told what the cost of this will be. This appears to me to be along the lines of a recall done with vehicles. When it is discovered that something that was done or not done, or, that a certain part is not operating correctly, results in a recall and of course at not cost to the consumer. This all is apparently new information to the companies who have installed either this particular Lochinvar system or possibly all of the boilers Lochinvar has manufactured since at least 2012. Has anyone else who owns a Lochinvar boiler been told this information by the heating contractor who installed their system?
A homeowner on heatinghelp.com had several problems with his Knight Floor Standing unit. He was advised by professionals on the site that it is an excellent unit, and judging by photos and descriptions from the homeowner the problems were most likely caused by installer error and the unit being oversized.
