"Getting our 2nd motor in four years."

2.0 rating
Somewhat Unsatisfied

We've had this unit since 2010 and it now needs a new motor, again. This one lasted barely 1 1/2 years. Motor covered by warranty but the service charge to install it isn't. Costing us between $300-$400 each time. Works well when it's running, but can't trust it and tired of paying to fix it.

Heat pump came with the house we bought 11 months ago, house was new in 2007. Living in the Vancouver area, we don't really get the temperature extremes that require continuous air conditioning in the summer. So it took a little while to figure out that our heat pump wasn't working when we moved in. We called in a furnace company, $1650. It worked for the next day we needed it, then it was fall. But the heat didn't work properly anymore, we had to rely on the "Emergency Heat" function. Gas bills went through the roof. We were able to get the heat pump working for the A/C for one day this year. Called in the techs again, they got it working, $350. No real explanation for why it had shut down on us, except "probably something to do with the electronics". It worked for one day. So basically we've spent $2000 to get three days of air conditioning, and for the privilege of having 10 months of gas bills that were 50% higher than they should be. In fairness, two other neighbors in our development have the same model, and have had no problems with it. For one, it doesn't have the juice to cool their whole house (2400 sq feet over three floors). The other has no complaints. But based on my experience (and the other reviews), I'd really stay away from this one.

"Garbage Unit"

Had installed in 2007. Had problems from day 1. Service had to be called out at least 6 times in first month. Very disappointed in this so-called name brand equipment. Will never recommend anyone to buy this product. Regional and national assistance absolutely no help at all.

I purchased a Lennox xp-15-042 Heat Pump in March 2007. Had 18 Service Calls since installation, not including 2 yearly maintenance service calls. Every January and February (wintertime), this heat pump failed…either low pressure lockout or running continuously. Both problems caused high electric bills due to running on resistance/backup heat. Spent $3800 on electric bills alone due to this heat pump's failure each winter. Unit is a total "lemon." Neither Lennox nor the Attorney General's Office would provide any assistance, resolution, or replacement. Never ever buy a Lennox heat pump. Lennox doesn't stand behind their products and cares even less about their customers.

"Leaking freon gas"

My less than 4 year old #xp15-042-230-01 heat pump leaked it's freon gas and shut down. The repair bill came to $976.22 ! The soldered joint where the suction line enters the compressor was cracked. The technician who repaired the leak said this had been a quality control problem caused at the factory. Lennox refused to warranty the heat pump because there was not a broken part ! They also said " how can I expect a joint to last longer than 4 years.? " This has been my 1st experience with heat pumps and it has not been a pleasant one.
