The Lennox G61 is a discontinued two-stage, high-efficiency gas furnace with an efficiency rating of up to 95.0% AFUE. It featured an aluminized steel Duralok Plus heat exchanger, with a stainless steel secondary heat exchanger. A low-speed continuous fan setting delivered improved air quality, while an insulated blower compartment reduced operating sounds. The unit was protected by a steel cabinet with a polyester, textured paint finish designed to resist corrosion.
Surprised by the reviews I purchased a g61mpv-60-090 and it has improved the quality of life in our house. It’s improved both the heating and cooling through out the house. We have saved typically 20 % on our home heating cost. Its super quit we don’t notice its cycling on and off. Obviously most satisfied people never reach out with a positive review. Lennox is a multi- billion dollar company thats a 100 years old so they obviously make a great product.
4 years ago we installed a lennox g61 mp furnace. Nothing but trouble. The furnace just wont ignite. it goes through the cycles and I have to reset the darn thing every day many times wake up to a freezing house changed the thermostat. I have had 3 service calls and 3 different opinions. When you call the service companies they come quick stay 1 hour tell us its fixed and give you a bill for 200 bucks. My next step contact Lennox Texas. theres better than lennox out there Do not waste you hard earned dollars.

I had a Lennox g61 Elite Series installed in my 2000 sq ft Duplex to replace two 1950s gm Delco Furnaces. This is a two stage 95% efficient unit. On first (low) stage it is so quiet that my tenants asked why could they never hear the furnace run? It is a properly sized furnace for the square footage, and properly sized duct work. Combine this with professional installers who knew exactly what they were doing and you have an awesome system. On low stage you have to put your hand near a heat register to confirm heat, it is that quiet. Thats the variable speed blower motor at work. On second (high) stage the airflow is turbo even on the 2nd story registers. Airflow is strong, but surprisingly quiet; can barely be heard. The tenant on the first floor says that in high stage he “thinks” he can hear the furnace below his kitchen. He is correct that is where it is. I will update this in January with a dead of winter report.
Other G61 Reviews
Among the few online comments regarding the G61 furnace, two of them -- one on hvac-talk.com and one on reddit.com -- discuss problems with the unit's flame sensor. One was from a heating professional having trouble cleaning the flame sensor. Other professionals said it's a pain but gave advise on the best way to do it. The other post was from a consumer who kept getting a low flame sensor warning code that technicians were having trouble diagnosing. He was advised by others on the site that the flame sensor was not properly cleaned.
