The Lennox G50 is a gas furnace that is part of the Lennox Elite Series. The G50 has an efficiency rating of 80% AFUE, which is a low efficiency when compared to other furnaces manufactured today. Lennox claims it can save between $1115 and $2197 for 3 years of use when compared to older furnaces with 55% to 65% AFUE rating.
The furnace has a low-speed blower fan that the company says provides slower air circulation and an insulated blower compartment which the company claims reduces sound. It can also be used with an electric heat pump. When used with the heat pump, it will alternate between electric and gas heat, reducing fuel usage.
We have limited service and Lennox will not sell parts direct; you have to call a Lennox dealer for parts, and they have to install them. The last repair bill for a computer box and thermostat was 800 and 400 dollars. I wouldn’t buy another Lennox product, I’m changing out the furnace and the replacement will not be a Lennox product

We had an old (1978) Lennox which worked perfectly but thought it was too old, so replaced it with g50 in Sep. 2010. The draft inducer fan makes very high pitch noise and the blower sounds like a jet plane. Very unhappy with it.

"Lennox G50 Furnace"

I purchased the Lennox g50 because I was told it was the highest Lennox unit to purchase. However, after only 2 years my blower wheel and blower motor holder have fallen apart and I am being told that it will cost me $575 to fix this. I am supposed to feel better because the parts are under warranty but how can that really make that big of a difference when I have to pay $575 in labor to fix parts that barely lasted 24 months. I contacted Lennox Consumer Complaint Department to express my concern and they provided no assistance at all, other to tell me that I could file an official written complaint to their Corporate office. I am extremly disappointed in the product and would in no way recommend this product to anyone looking to replace their furnace.

I have a lennox g50uh-36b-090 its been a year, and I have replaced its control board 3 times already, the inducer motor will stay on after it cycles most of the time because the inducer relay won’t deenergize until it is taped on or shuting off the furnace. it uses a white rodgers surelight control board that I believe should be pulled of the market. other than that control board i believe it works like a charm until the next control board.

I had purchased G-50 series furnace 5 years ago and stumbled across your web site in search of parts and warranty information.I see I’m not the only one with issues concerning combustion air motor, grinding, squeling noise.I called for a replacement motor I could not believe they wanted $ 279.00 for this motor.I am a maintenance manager and have bought alot of motors in the past.I must say the mark up is quite high.I would not any think of buying another Lennox furnace.
Lennox offers a 20-year limited warranty on the heat exchanger for the G50 models. A 10-year warranty covers the compressor and a 5-year limited warranty covers all other components. The warranty only covers the cost of failed parts, and not the labor required to replace them.
