Koldwave manufactures portable air conditioners for either temporary or permanent additional cooling needs, as well as water-cooled heat pumps. Koldwave is owned by Mestek and headquartered in Westfield, Massachuesetts. Mestek had sales of approximately $678 million in 2017.
Koldwave was acquired by Mestek in 1995. Mestek was started in 1946 by John Reed in a garage. The company originally manufactured heating and air conditioning products, but has now expanded into 38 different divisions. Today, Mestek companies create a variety of products and services, including metal fabrication and automated handling equipment, as well as many heating and cooling products.
Koldwave air conditioners are portable, and do not need a window to function. Traditional air conditioners expel the hot air to the outdoors through a window, but this is not necessary with a Koldwave unit. The water-cooled Kompac units use water (rather than outside air) from a faucet or closed water loop to cool the air. The Airmaster air-cooled units provide cooling through a ducting process. The manufacturer notes that its Airmaster air conditioners can also be used for cooling at outdoor events or spot cooling in areas such as server rooms. Koldwave heat pumps are part of the water-cooled line. The water-cooled air conditioners can vary from a cooling capacity of 6,300 to 34,700 Btu/hour and a heating capacity of 7,000 to 38,500 Btu/hour. The air-cooled units range from 13,200 to 61,200 Btu/hour.
Koldwave warranties its air conditioners for two years, for both parts and workmanship. The compressor is covered for three years under the Koldwave warranty.
