As of March 2018, it appears that Kenmore may have discontinued their Elite hybrid and natural gas water heaters. After seeing that all "Elite" models were listed as "unavailable" on Sears.com we spoke with a Sears customer service representative who said that, although Kenmore representatives had told them that they were going to continue to sell the Elite series, they had been out of stock for several months.
The Kenmore Elite is a line of electric and gas water heaters which are energy efficient and Energy Star rated. The Kenmore Elite Hybrid Electric water heater is available in 60 and 80-gallon capacities and has an Energy Factor (EF) of up to 2.4. It has a touch pad with four operating modes and uses the environmentally-friendly R134a refrigerant. The natural gas unit has a 40 and 50-gallon model and has a 7.0 EF. It features adjustable LCD controls, electronic ignition and a powered anode rod.
"Sears Kenmore parts.com bad customer service, had 12 year Manufacture warranty & only halway in and no resolution to a leaky water heater,"
Sears Kenmore Elite is a piece of junk, manufacture warranty for 12 years is a joke, only 6 years out and no hot water. and leaking.
i was told to i have to pay them high dollars to come and inspect to warranty something i already paid for. waited 25 minutes on line to hear this. i will never buy a kenmore product again.never been so disatisfied and spoke to 5 people and 2 of which i couldnt communicate with due to language issues..
"So pleased with our upgrade"
We have been incredibly pleased with our decision to upgrade to a Kenmore Elite water heater and wanted to share the experience and purchase information in an effort to help out anyone else who is actively considering the switch. It is Energy Star rated so it consumes little in the way of resources but it is so much more efficient than our older one. With a full household we frequently found ourselves running low on hot water after 5 showers a day and endless loads of dishes and laundry, but not anymore. It seems like we have hot water on demand whenever we want it, and in the last two years of ownership not a single problem or issue. We waited ages before upgrading but looking back wish we would have done it much sooner. There isn't really much to dislike, we had it professionally installed by the dealer and that took less than a day. The operation is very simple and the unit itself is real quiet, the noise never bothers us.

"Review of Water Heater"
Our Kenmore water heater was purchased within the last year after our previous water heater broke unexpectedly. Honestly, there isn't anything we don't like about the Kenmore water heater, other than the price! We paid over a thousand dollars for it. It is energy efficient and comes with a fully loaded warranty package. Hopefully this will provide us protection where our last one failed us. We have never had to replace anything on it and it has yet to need any type of maintenance. We would definitely buy this brand and model again after years, hopefully over a decade, of no problems! I actually have already recommended this brand and exact water heater to friends and neighbors recently. And in fact, a coworker recommended it to us when we mentioned needing to replace our previous water heater! After looking for weeks we made the decision to buy the Kenmore and we are still happy we did!
"Kenmore Elite is a Worthy Choice"
I've owned my home for 4 months and my Kenmore Elite Gas Water Heater is a high efficient model that still keeps up with my household needs. We regularly run several showers early in the morning and it does keep up. The construction seems very solid compared to lower end models on the market and it's full sized so there is plenty of water to go around. The unit has been great so far. I would recommend it to a friend because it was a sub thousand dollar unit with the performance of a more expensive unit. The off-white color was very important to my wife, and I will admit it looks nice. The tank capacity is 40 gallons and it has a digital controller. The unit is Energy Star Compliant and it uses natural gas. Once the unit heats up the water it maintains the heat very well compared to previous units I've owned, so it seems to run less often than those units.
"Kenmore Elite, Worth Every Cent"
I have just recently purchased the Kenmore Elite 40 gallon water heater. I have had it in my home for 6 months now. I have been very satisfied with heater thus far. It has made an amazing difference on my utility bill. The instillation was so easy and took no time at all, The digital controls have made it so easy to go through settings and know exactly what they are. This water heater is super efficient and doesn't seem to run even half the amount of time that my old one did. Though it was a little pricey for me, I'm glad that I made this purchase. It has shown to worth every penny and it's already paying for itself. I would definitely recommend this water heater to my family and friends. I look forward to many years of savings thanks to my new water heater. If I ever need a water heater again, I will be purchasing another Kenmore.
A review on bestcovery.com gives the Elite 80-gallon hybrid a 4.5 out of 5, praising its efficiency, anode rod, and touch-pad control. The natural gas unit is given a positive review at appliancenerd.com, which mentions the efficiency, digital controls and 12-year warranty of the unit.
