Janitrol CPLT Heat Pump Overview

The Janitrol CPLT is a discontinued split system heat pump offering up to 13 SEER and 8.6 HSPF. This series of heat pump uses a scroll compressor and condenser coil with aluminum fins and refrigeration-grade copper tubing for efficient home heating and cooling.

The CPLT is available in six models ranging from 2 to 5 tons designed for ground-level or rooftop mount installation. All models feature a compressor sound blanket and quiet condenser fan system to contribute to minimal start-up noises and operation.

A line-in filter drier, heavy gauge galvanized steel cabinet with a polyester powder paint finish, an elevated bottom pan and a defrost control system are additional components of this model.

Janitrol CPLT Heat Pump Reviews

"Good results"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

I built my house in 1993. My contractor talked me into a Janitrol saying he had one in his own home. We put in a four ton unit for a 3900 sq.ft. two story. This unit has worked super for 19 years.I Did no preventative maintenance, just had work done as needed. I know a lot of people in this business and have been in several contruction lawsuits,( I practice law), I firmly believe what another reviewer said, the biggest difference is the installer.

Other CPLT Reviews

While Janitrol has very little presence online, Janitrols parent company, Goodman, receives mixed reviews across the web for its HVAC products. Contractors on doityourself.com recommend Goodman products to homeowners looking for a new heat pump. With proper installation and maintenance, they say, these units will last as long as any other brand. The solid, long-term warranty is an additional perk of this unit.

On the other hand, several reviewers on gardenweb.com note that they don’t consider the CPLT a quality piece of heating and cooling equipment. They say the long standard warranty is available only when all of the necessary components are purchased, and mention homeowners will need a substantial warranty for frequent repairs and parts replacements.

The CPLT is available in different models which vary in efficiency and capacity.

Model Number SEER / HSPF BTUs per Hour
CPLT30-1 13 / 8 0
CPLT30-1A 13 / 8 0

CPLT Warranty

The CPLT is equipped with a lifetime limited warranty for the compressor and 10-year limited warranty for all other remaining parts. Both warranties are available only to the original registered homeowner. Extended parts and labor coverage is available through a local Goodman dealer.
