Heat pump overview

A heat pump provides year-round climate control for homes by transferring heat from one place to another. This electrical device uses a refrigerant that circulates through the compressor, condenser and evaporator, releasing or absorbing heat in the process. Heat pumps differ from air conditioners in that they can both heat and cool your home. Depending on the season, a heat pump can both absorb and release heat, using the outside air to control indoor temperatures.

Heil heat pump series and models

Heil offers three heat pump series: the QuietComfort Deluxe, QuietComfort and Performance. Within each series, you also choose from two different types of heat pumps – split or mini-split (ductless) – depending on available space and your home’s size.

Care and maintenance

To ensure long-lasting performance, you must carry out periodic maintenance. While you can always consult your local Heil dealer in case of malfunction or repair, you can also follow a few steps to keep your unit energy-efficient and prevent sudden breakdowns.

Here’s a list of things you should consider:

  • Clean or replace the air filter monthly, or as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear from leaves or debris.
  • Inspect the ducts for leakage and seal them properly, if required.
  • Do not set the thermostat above or below the manufacturer’s recommended temperature.
  • Consult a local HVAC professional at least once every year.

Heat pump warranties

Heil offers a standard 10-year limited warranty on parts for all heat pumps upon product registration. The company also has a provision of what it calls as a “No Hassle Replacement” limited warranty that covers compressor and coil replacement for a period of 10, five or between one and three years, depending on the heat pump model you choose.
